OVERVIEW
Lasher invites applications for a full-time Legal Assistant to provide comprehensive legal and administrative support to two designated attorneys. Serving a key role within our civil, commercial, and trust and estates litigation practices, the ideal candidate brings strong case management skills and a commitment to exceptional client service in a fast-paced environment. (

Attorney assignments may adjust based on firm needs.)
This position reports to the Firm Administrator and is part of the Legal Assistant group.
SCHEDULEFull-time 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday (a 37.5-hour work week). After successful completion of an orientation period (usually 90 days), this position is eligible to work from home one day per week.

$65,000 to $90,000 (dependent upon experience)

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION SCHEDULE FOR THIS POSITIONFormal performance evaluations are normally conducted after the first 90 days and annually on the anniversary of date of hire or promotion.
Employee’s performance is evaluated in the following categories: quality; productivity; job knowledge; reliability; independence; planning and organization; problem solving; judgment; creativity; initiative; communication; adaptability; interpersonal relationships; adherence to policy; and attendance.
Other communications regarding job performance and expectations may take place from time to time and can be initiated by either Lasher management or the employee.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES- Provide a link between the client and attorney – handling client questions and concerns.
- Draft correspondence and routine pleadings under supervision of attorney.
- Maintain up-to-date case files for pleadings, correspondence, etc.
- File pleadings with court, noting and confirming motions, etc.
- With assistance from Docketing Clerk, maintain attorney calendars, trial calendars, motions calendars, and tracking case schedules.
- Contact witnesses and opposing counsel to coordinate dates, times, and locations. Schedule court reporters.
- Prepare papers for services and follow-up on process service (preparing & serving Subpoenas).
- Obtain employment, financial, medical, records, etc.
- serving subpoenas, generating correspondence, verifying receipt of complete and correct information and follow-up as needed. - Arrange for and schedule expert services as well as mediators, arbitrators, etc.
- Schedule and coordinate meetings including mediations, arbitrations, and settlement conferences.
- Prepare and number exhibits for trial. Prepare notebooks for mediation, arbitration, hearings, and trials including document organization and indexing.
- Create and maintain appropriate forms and templates ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
