Litigation Associate, Government Defense

A California litigation firm that defends government agencies is adding associates, and you'd get to shape your own work arrangement.

• Work fully remote, come into the office, or split the difference.
• An hourly bonus kicks in for every hour you bill over the annual target.
• Health, dental, and vision are covered in full.
• You'd run your own caseload with plenty of independence.
• Cases go through both state and federal court.

The firm represents cities, counties, school districts, and other public agencies in civil litigation. The work spans employment, civil rights, and tort and property claims.

Remote work is on the table, but you'll need to live in the Bay Area or be willing to relocate, since in-person hearings and proceedings come up.

• Defend public agency clients in state and federal court across a mix of case types.
• Own your caseload day to day, working with partners and other associates as needed.
• Develop case strategy through legal research and analysis.
• Write pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery.
• Appear at hearings, depositions, and trial.
• Give clients regular updates as their cases develop.

• 1 to 7 years of practice, ideally in litigation.
• Admitted to practice in California.
• Living in the Bay Area, or open to relocating.
• Confident running cases on your own.
• Trial experience is a plus.
• Base salary of $125,000 to $180,000, depending on experience.
• Hourly bonus for every hour billed above the annual target.
• Health, dental, and vision coverage, paid in full by the firm.
