Role DescriptionWe are seeking an ambitious Employment Litigation Attorney who wants to become an exceptional litigator.
This position is designed for attorneys who want more than document review, endless legal research, and years of waiting for meaningful courtroom experience. From the beginning, you will receive substantial responsibility and hands‑on litigation experience while working alongside experienced employment litigators.
You will conduct depositions, argue motions, appear in court, negotiate settlements, prepare cases for mediation and trial, develop litigation strategy, and work directly with clients. If you are eager to build real litigation skills, this is an outstanding opportunity to accelerate your career.
You will manage an active employment litigation caseload with the support of experienced attorneys, paralegals, and modern technology. We value efficiency, sound judgment, initiative, and exceptional advocacy while providing the mentorship necessary to help you become an outstanding litigator.
This is a full‑time hybrid position based in Cranston, Rhode Island, with flexibility for remote work when appropriate.
Responsibilities- Manage employment litigation matters from intake through resolution.
- Draft pleadings, motions, memoranda, discovery requests and responses, and other litigation documents.
- Conduct legal research and develop litigation strategy.
- Take and defend depositions.
- Prepare for and argue court hearings and dispositive motions.
- Represent clients at mediations, settlement conferences, and other proceedings.
- Prepare cases for arbitration and trial.
- Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, experts, witnesses, and the courts.
- Manage written discovery, subpoenas, ESI, and compliance with court deadlines.
- Work collaboratively with paralegals and legal support staff to efficiently move cases toward successful resolution.
Required
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in Rhode Island or Massachusetts (admission in both states is a plus).
- Minimum of one (1) year of full‑time, paid litigation experience following graduation from law school. Qualifying experience may include practice as a licensed attorney or a full‑time judicial clerkship with substantial exposure to civil litigation.
- Experience drafting pleadings, motions, and written discovery.
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Excellent oral advocacy and communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to independently manage multiple litigation matters and deadlines.
- Commitment to professionalism, client service, and teamwork.
Preferred
- Experience taking or defending depositions.
- Experience arguing motions or appearing in court.
