Newland & Newland, LLP, an Illinois-based law firm with offices in Arlington Heights and
Libertyville, is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Plaintiff’s Personal Injury Attorney
to join our fast-growing established personal injury practice. Our main office is in
Arlington Heights, but there is opportunity to work in one of our other offices if preferred,
including downtown Chicago, or to work in hybrid format, once initial training period is
completed.

Education and Experience
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in the State of Illinois
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of practicing personal injury law from intake through
    settlement or litigation practice
  • Experience with discovery, depositions, court appearances, settlement
    negotiations, and motion practice preferred
Responsibilities
  • Preparing for trials, hearings, and meetings.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research to support case strategies and
    arguments.
  • Review and summarize medical records, police reports, and other relevant
    documents.
  • Prepare legal documents such as pleadings, discovery requests, and motions.
  • Maintain accurate records of case progress and deadlines using legal
    management software.
  • Manage case information and client information.
  • Manage files assigned to them with autonomy
  • Interview clients and witnesses to gather necessary information for cases.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations throughout the case
    process.
  • Collaborate with other legal professionals to facilitate effective communication
    within the law office.
Skills
  • Strong legal research and writing skills
  • Ability to effectively analyze legal issues and develop case strategies
  • Strong case management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage
    multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously
  • Strong negotiation and settlement skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with Clio Manage/Grow a plus
  • Ability to effectively communicate with clients, opposing counsel, insurance
    carriers, courts, and other professionals

Compensation and Benefits

Base compensation starts at $130,000, with salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. Attorneys with significant or extensive experience may be considered for a higher base salary.

  • Bonus pay based on a percentage of what is recovered. Including bonus pay, total compensation can be unlimited

  • Long-term disability insurance, paid by the Firm
  • Eligibility for the Firm’s optional group health insurance plan after 90 days of employment, with the Firm contributing $350 per month toward the premium for employees who elect to participate in the group health insurance plan
  • A limited work-from-home option may be available after successful completion of training and demonstration of proficiency and independence in the role
