Position Summary

The Perishable Replenishment Planner executes fulfillment plans for a specified division(s) utilizing the GFS forecasting/replenishment system and other software applications. Manages higher risk inventory and develops strategies to drive continuous improvement with customer in‑stock performance, days on hand and product loss. Acts as the primary supplier contact for inventory and supplier related business needs, monitors KPIs related to service level, product loss and days on hand, and closely monitors inbound receiving capacity and reserve storage capacity to ensure proper flow of inventory for GFS Operations.

What

you will do
  • Release Purchase Orders and replenish key, high‑value, high‑risk, high‑visibility items for GFS customers.
  • Maintain an awareness of current market conditions, causal factors (weather, seasonality, etc.) and product availability to properly maintain perishable inventory while avoiding product loss.
  • Lead inventory management activities for product conversions, seasonal/one‑time buys, at‑risk, long and obsolete inventory.
  • Collaborate with GFS departments (Home Office Supply Chain, Demand Planners, Replenishment Planners, Sales, Marketing, Capstone, Chain Specialist, DC Operations) to ensure proper inventory flow into and out of GFS distribution centers.
  • Manage service level, days on hand and product loss for an assigned vendor portfolio.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to solve quality and/or service problems; expedite deliveries as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain seasonal plans using fulfillment software functionality.
  • Identify root causes for inventory issues/out of stocks and collaborate with appropriate owners for resolution.
  • Utilize fulfillment software to set up and maintain perishable items, maximizing service level while minimizing spoilage and liquidation.
  • Implement and maintain business rules/processes for service levels, safety stock, buy multiples, capacity, inbound freight networks, etc.
  • Perform vendor analysis regularly, identify and execute changes to buying parameters to improve service levels, lower spoilage and liquidation, and right‑size inventory levels.
  • Provide primary and alternate sourcing solutions for resolving shortage situations and identify local sourcing opportunities for direct or fill‑in purchasing.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Regional Merchandising/Inventory teams, Sales, Supply Chain, and customers to meet product needs, plan future events, determine trends, input new product requirements, and execute close‑out of discontinued items.
  • Align with and support enterprise procurement philosophies while meeting divisional business objectives.
  • Continuously improve professional skills including JDA, Business Analytics (Micro Strategy), Microsoft Office, Google, and supply chain concepts.

When you will work

Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm.
Hybrid work schedule: 4 days in office, 1 day from home.

What you’ll bring to the table
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain Management, or related field (preferred).
  • Three or more years of experience in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Product or Category Management (preferred).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel functions and Google applications.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, written, and oral communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in teams, interact with others across departments, and develop relationships.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; ability to communicate with managers, directors, and general managers.
  • Knowledge of principles for moving goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including relative costs and benefits.
  • Self‑directed, able to handle distraction, repetition, prioritization, workload fluctuations, and ambiguity.
  • Strategic and analytical thinking, including basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages).
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to assess internal customer needs, meet quality standards, and evaluate satisfaction.
