Responsible for leading the strategic sourcing teams for our gas and building services areas. This position supports the company’s strategic direction and assists with leading/building an organization that will expertly execute procurement processes.
Responsibilities- Champions strategic sourcing practices throughout the company
- Builds strategic working relationships with key internal and external partners
- Develops, implements policy/procedures/system requirements for materials, supplies, equipment, services and major projects to achieve lowest total cost of ownership and mitigate risk by establishing strategic sourcing teams
- Reviews buyer analysis of market conditions and system requirements and determines timing of major procurement actions in consultation with internal requesters
- Advises users of procurement tools (Ariba, Maximo, Oracle) and opportunities in the markets for their business
- Manages and reviews strategic sourcing events, bidding and contract award processes in alignment with corporate policies and procedures
- Provides direction for the performance of supplier evaluations
- Oversees the preparation of reports on procurement activities, including purchase orders, contract negotiations, price quotations, vendor catalogs, aging of material requests, cost savings, avoidances reports, supplier engagement spend and vendor performance
- Ensures procurement documentation complies with corporate policies and procedures
- Approves purchase orders, invoices, and other commercial procurement documents as appropriate
- Coordinates and manages the investigation of and reporting on satisfactory settlement of complaints related to purchase of materials, supplies, services and equipment
- Develops, evaluates and makes recommendations for changes or additions to existing policies, practices, technology enhancements, and procedures, ensuring compliance with standards
- Recommends and oversees training programs for procurement personnel to develop job skills and stimulate career growth; provides routine feedback on performance
- Conducts benchmarking to continuously improve performance
- Thorough knowledge of the Uniform Commercial Code
- Up‑to‑date knowledge of supply chain/procurement techniques
- Knowledge of gas or electric distribution commodities, services, markets and related industry/company standards, construction projects, engineering specification development, contract strategy, compliance auditing, risks and insurance matters, and contract wording to support requirements
