Overview

The Medical Equipment Project Planner is a member of the Capital & Services Sourcing Team (within the Contracting & Procurement department of Supply Chain), which is responsible for supporting the contracting and sourcing requirements of the entire organization. This position reports to the Strategic Sourcing Manager for Capital & Services.

The Medical Equipment Project Planner performs core functions to include: defining business requirements, vendor identification, negotiation, evaluation, award and implementation. This position also serves as an equipment planner for construction projects and provides tactical leadership for CHOP's Capital & Services contracting group. Core required skills include equipment planning, project management, analytical skills, and vendor/stakeholder relationship management.

What You Will Do
  • Identify standardization and savings opportunities based on CHOP equipment standards.
  • Provide strategic guidance for furniture, equipment and construction sourcing for the various departments within the hospital.
  • Develop comprehensive capital equipment lists using CHOP standards, facilitate equipment planning meetings, and finalize specifications with stakeholders.
  • Proactively manage the organization-wide equipment standards list and ensure standards are followed from design through project go‑live.
  • Develop and manage both medical and non‑medical equipment budgets for various construction projects.
  • Manage simultaneous projects with short timelines and challenging logistics.
  • Obtain and coordinate technical data for equipment by interacting directly with architects, designers and project managers.
  • Ensure compliance with CHOP’s supplier‑diversity objectives relative to contracting, ensuring awarded contracts meet and/or exceed CHOP objectives.
  • Monitor vendor performance and end‑user satisfaction throughout the term of the project. Support Value Analysis (CHOPtimize), Supplier Diversity, and other Supply Chain programs with market research, cost analyses, and related data.
  • Partner with suppliers and stakeholders to establish and maintain positive business relationships.
  • Seek out new suppliers to engage in business.
  • Understand Supply Chain’s vision, participate in defining goals and objectives, and coordinate efforts to achieve goals.
  • Provide insight and suggestions for process and communication improvement between Supply Chain stakeholders.
  • Validate and document achieved savings for budgetary purposes.
  • Apply knowledge of contract law to comply with all hospital, regulatory, and legal guidelines regarding contracting.
  • Work collaboratively with all levels of Supply Chain staff.
  • Report progress on a monthly or as requested basis.
  • Interface with CHOP Legal department, as necessary, to review contracts and proposals.
  • Participate in work groups, forums, and professional societies and include at least one Supply Chain improvement workgroup per year.
Education Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • Master's Degree Preferred
Experience Qualifications
  • At least seven (7) years experience required
Skills And Abilities
  • Contract administration
  • Customer and supplier relationship management
  • Proven project management skills with small to medium sized projects (3–10 people)
  • Moderate to advanced proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, data analysis, business case development, ERP systems
Licenses and Certifications
  • Certified Professional Contract Manager (CPCM) – National Contract Management Association (NCMA) – upon hire (Preferred)
  • Certified Commercial Contracts Manager (CCCM) – National Contract Management Association (NCMA) – upon hire (Preferred)
