As a Strategic Sourcing Specialist, you will report to our Purchasing Manager, and work within a local team of 5 other purchasing professionals. This position is located in South Charlotte (About 3-4 miles from Carowinds). This is a hybrid position #Li-hybrid with 2 work from home days per week.

To strategically source and secure high-quality, cost-effective parts while fostering strong supplier relationships that drive value, support operational excellence, and contribute to Atlas Copco's long-term growth. The Strategic Sourcing Specialist is committed to optimizing costs, enhancing supplier performance, and ensuring a reliable supply chain that meets the evolving needs of both internal and external customers.
Roles and Responsibilities of Strategic Sourcing Specialist
1. Supplier Relationship Management
- Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with key suppliers to ensure the availability and quality of spare parts.
- Negotiate favorable terms and pricing with suppliers, driving value and savings for the organization.
- Monitor supplier performance, holding them accountable to KPIs related to quality, delivery, and cost-effectiveness.
- Source and evaluate alternative suppliers, with a focus on those capable of localizing part production, to support CTS Purchasing's commitment to ensuring high availability at the lowest total cost.
- Work closely with Engineering, Planning, Transportation, and other cross-functional teams to align Purchasing strategies with project and operational needs.
- Develop and implement a strategic approach to cost savings, identifying opportunities across sourcing, negotiation, and supplier partnerships to drive long-term value and achieve annual savings targets.
- Actively support working capital reduction efforts and provide detailed breakdowns of savings, such as material savings, transport savings, and import duty savings
- Collaborate with other Atlas Copco entities for volume leverage and product pricing.
- Take proactive and necessary actions to accomplish objectives, establishing and maintaining effective communication with all relevant stakeholders to ensure seamless collaboration and successful outcomes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education
- A Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Relevant experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, logistics, operations, customer service, inside sales, business analysis, or a related business function. Prior procurement experience is preferred, but we are open to candidates from adjacent backgrounds who demonstrate strong analytical ability, initiative, and potential to grow into strategic sourcing.
- Experience supporting internal or external stakeholders through clear communication, follow-up, problem solving, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Exposure to supplier management, customer relationship management, operational improvement, cost analysis, or performance tracking is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work with data, identify trends, manage priorities, and translate business needs into clear actions.
- Interest in building a long-term career in purchasing, procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management.
- Negotiation Proficiency: The ability to negotiate favorable terms that support Atlas Copco objectives, balancing assertiveness with collaboration to ensure mutually beneficial agreements.
- Effective Communication: Capable of conveying information clearly and concisely across teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to facilitate smooth procurement processes and maintain positive supplier relationships.
- Analytical Competence: Skilled in using data analysis tools to interpret purchasing data, monitor inventory trends, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- ERP & Data Analytics Proficiency: Experienced in leveraging ERP systems and data analytics tools to manage purchasing workflows, analyze vendor performance, and optimize supply chain efficiency.
