In this position, you help ensure that procurement activities follow rules, meet agency needs, and support daily operations. This position supports purchasing activities for the department by reviewing needs, awarding bids, and processing procurement documents. The role ensures that supplies, contracts, and services are handled in a timely and accurate manner. As a Purchasing Agent, you will perform the following duties:
- Supply Procurement:Acquire supplies, consumables, and materials for program offices and veterans homes
- Bid Preparation:Prepare bid packages, review specifications, and discuss purchase requirements with end users
- Contract Review:Assess contractor performance records and assist contractors with procedures and documentation
- Order Processing:Create purchase orders, facility credit card orders, and supply contracts using the SAP system and Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) software
- Record Management:Maintain procurement documents according to retention schedules and policy requirements
- Issue Resolution:Reconcile invoices, resolve discrepancies, and troubleshoot procurement issues with program offices

Work Schedule and Additional Information:- Full-time employment, 7.5 hours per day; 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 1st shift (7:00 AM to 3:00 PM), Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Your schedule may change based on operational needs.
- Travel and overtime:
As needed - Telework:You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 5 days within a 10-day pay period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Annville. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Three years of experience in purchasing work involving contact with vendors in the procurement of a variety of supplies, materials, equipment, or services;
or - Three years of experience in requisitioning, receiving, storing, distributing, and maintaining inventory of goods;
or - An equivalent combination of experience and training. Post-high school education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for purchasing or stores experience to a maximum of two years.

- You must possess a valid federal or state-issued photo pass a favorable NCIC screening for admittance toFort Indiantown Gap.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
