IT Project Manager
Description Our direct end client is looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead a critical facility shutdown and relocation project. This initiative involves the closure of a building in Washington, D.C., and Canada, with all operations, assets, and infrastructure being relocated to multiple new locations. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing this transition seamlessly, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
Given the complexity of this project and limited internal experience in executing similar large-scale transitions, we are seeking a candidate who has successfully led facility closures, relocations, and network transitions. This is a 100% remote role – however may need to travel to Canada (so passport would be required).
Rate - $110 – 115 w2
Key Responsibilities- Lead the end-to-end execution of the facility shutdown and relocation project, ensuring all milestones are met.
- Develop a comprehensive project plan, including scope, timeline, budget, risk assessment, and contingency strategies.
- Coordinate with logistics, IT, facilities, operations, and leadership teams to ensure a smooth transition.
- Identify gaps in internal expertise and recommend managed services or supplemental labor as needed.
- Oversee asset inventory, decommissioning, and transfer of equipment, ensuring proper tracking and setup at new locations.
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks, including infrastructure dependencies, compliance requirements, and operational disruptions.
- Establish and maintain clear communication channels with stakeholders, providing regular updates and escalation management.
- Ensure adherence to compliance, safety, and regulatory guidelines throughout the transition.
- 5+ years of experience in project management, specifically in facility transitions, shutdowns, or relocations.
- Proven ability to manage multi-location projects involving logistics, IT, and infrastructure coordination.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align multiple departments and leadership teams.
- Experience working with third-party vendors, managed services, or supplemental labor for project execution.
- Proficiency in project management methodologies (PMP, Agile, or equivalent certification preferred).
- Ability to navigate uncertainty, problem-solve under pressure, and create structure in evolving environments.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills to align priorities across multiple teams.
- Background in logistics or operational strategy.
- Experience in change management during large-scale transitions.
- Previous experience working in highly regulated environments.
