Our client is a New York–based renewable energy Independent Power Producer (IPP) with a growing distributed solar portfolio totaling 114 MW across 157 projects in 12 states. Their mission is to deliver reliable, high-performing clean energy assets that create value for partners and communities.
They are seeking an experienced Asset Manager with a strong technical background in solar operations to help oversee third-party operators and ensure optimal performance of their distributed solar portfolio.
Position Overview:The Asset Manager will be responsible for managing the operational and financial performance of a diverse distributed solar portfolio. This role involves coordinating with multiple third-party O&M providers, managing vendor relationships, monitoring asset performance, and ensuring compliance with project agreements.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, technically adept, and passionate about optimizing renewable energy assets across a multi-state portfolio.
Key ResponsibilitiesOversee and coordinate the performance of O&M providers across the distributed solar portfolio.
Monitor and report on asset performance, identifying opportunities for operational improvement and optimization.
Participate in the preparation and review of annual budgets; track and explain budget variances.
Prepare recurring performance reports for internal and external stakeholders and respond to performance inquiries.
Ensure strict compliance with all governing project documents, including PPAs, O&M Agreements, Interconnection Agreements, Land Leases, Financing Agreements, and LLC Agreements.
Manage and resolve contractual and commercial issues as they arise.
Lead day-to-day relationship management with third-party operators, asset managers, and service providers.
Collaborate with the energy marketing team to identify revenue-enhancing and risk-mitigation opportunities.
Provide technical coordination for select improvement or remediation projects, including:
Reviewing EPC bids and equipment selections
Coordinating with EPC contractors, independent engineers, and permitting consultants
Engaging with local site hosts and other stakeholders
Maintain P&L oversight and ensure the overall financial and technical health of the portfolio.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related technical discipline (advanced degree preferred).
5+ years of experience in solar asset management, operations, or performance optimization.
Proven experience managing multiple third-party O&M providers and distributed generation portfolios.
Strong understanding of solar project contracts (PPAs, O&M, Interconnection, Land Lease, Financing, etc.).
Proficiency with performance monitoring tools and reporting platforms.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently as a contractor and manage multiple priorities across diverse projects.
Located within the U.S., with the ability to periodically travel to our client’s NYC office for meetings.
