Position Overview

The Manager of Learning & Development is responsible for executing and continuously improving the company’s training, development, and hiring programs across a multi-unit events, restaurant and hotel organization.

This role blends hands-on learning & development leadership, ensuring teams are well-trained, leaders are developed internally, and the organization consistently attracts and retains high-quality talent at both the hourly and management levels.

This position is ideal for a people leader who thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment and enjoys building practical, scalable programs that directly support operations.

Key Responsibilities Learning & Development (Primary Focus)
  • Execute and manage company-wide L&D programs aligned with operational needs, brand standards, and growth plans.
  • Own onboarding programs for hourly, management, and corporate employees, ensuring consistency across locations.
  • Design and facilitate leadership development programs for supervisors and managers.
  • Partner with Operations, Culinary, Events, Hotel and corporate teams to identify skill gaps and training priorities.
  • Develop and maintain training content related to:
    • Service and operational standards
    • Leadership and people management
    • Compliance and required training (harassment prevention, wage & hour, food safety, etc.)
  • Manage learning platforms and tools (LMS, digital training resources, internal documentation).
  • Track and report on training effectiveness using metrics such as retention, promotion rates, completion rates, and performance feedback.
  • Partner with operations and events leaders to understand staffing needs and hiring timelines. Track recruiting metrics such as time-to-fill, turnover trends, and hiring volume.
  • Support and scale a train-the-trainer model across locations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner closely with company leadership on performance management, employee engagement, and retention initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Operations leadership to ensure training programs are practical, relevant, and operationally sound.
  • Support company culture initiatives and values-based training.
  • Ensure all training and hiring practices comply with applicable labor laws and company policies.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in Learning & Development or Training leadership, preferably within hospitality, restaurants, events, or service-based organizations.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Comfortable facilitating training sessions and working directly with managers and frontline teams.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work at Homebase as well as to support field operations across the company portfolio.
Preferred Experience
  • Multi-unit restaurant or hospitality group experience.
  • Exposure to leadership development or management training programs.
  • Familiarity with New Jersey and Pennsylvania labor market dynamics.
  • Experience supporting growth or operational change initiatives.
