Located on Vancouver Island just 50 km north of Victoria and 30 km south of Nanaimo, the Cowichan Valley Regional District (CVRD) is in the ancestral and unceded territories of First Nations including the Quw'utsun, Malahat, Ts'uubaa-asatx, Halalt, Penelakut, Stz'uminus, Lyackson, Pauquachin, Ditidaht, and Pacheedaht Nations. The CVRD provides a wide range of local government services to a population of 95,000. The Cowichan Valley Regional District is now accepting applications for a regular full time Capital Projects Coordinator – Parks & Trails in the Parks & Trails Division within the Operations Department.
General InformationReporting to the Manager, Parks Operations, the Capital Projects Coordinator – Parks & Trails is responsible for the planning, implementation and coordination of parks and trails capital projects, ranging from minor capital renovations to major asset replacement. The Capital Projects Coordinator – Parks & Trails also ensures the parks and trails infrastructure adheres to the asset management plan and preventative maintenance standards and operating procedures.
Qualifications- Degree in Landscape Architecture/Design, Civil Engineering, Project and/or Construction Management, or a related field.
- A minimum of six (6) years of progressive experience in landscape/parks related construction management.
- A minimum of six (6) years of progressive in project management, preferably in a local government setting, involving new construction and renovation work, retaining and coordinating applicable professional services inclusive of civil and structural engineering, environmental assessment, geotechnical engineering assessment, architectural and landscape design and coordinating associated regulatory approval processes.
- Supervisory experience in the area of construction/project management is required.
- Related experience in asset management is preferred.
- Class 5 BC Driver’s License.
- First Aid Level 1 with CPR.
- WHMIS Certificate – provided by the employer.
- Project Management Certificate is preferred.
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Hours of WorkGuaranteed 35 hours of work per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and eligible for flex time. This position may be required to attend some evening and weekend meetings. This position is currently not eligible for remote or work-from-home arrangements and requires on-site presence.
SalaryWage rate in 3 steps as per the Collective Agreement between the CVRD and CUPE Local 358, $52.88 - $54.47 - $56.08 per hour (2025 rates). Benefits are provided as per the CUPE Collective Agreement.
