Overview
The Remote Camp Operations Manager is responsible for the overall performance management of their assigned area of responsibility, which will include both Food Service and Housekeeping Departments. This Operations Manager will ensure NMS standards, policies and procedures are upheld, while building and maintaining healthy, effective relationships with clients, customers, and employees. This position supports the Schlumberger (SLB East Camp) on the North Slope.
It is a 3-week on / 3-week off rotational position. The point of hire origin is Anchorage, AK.
- Provide management and oversight of an assigned group of remote camp activities.
- Function as a primary resource for NMS Food Service and Housekeeping employees within the assigned unit.
- Act as a backup resource for other areas as requested.
- Deliver and track performance within the assigned area to meet key performance indicators.
- Coach and develop employees within their organization within the framework of formal coaching and succession planning.
- Advance all elements of NMS performance excellence strategy in the context of continuous improvement.
- Facilitate and support a "One Team" relationship dynamic within the NMS organization.
- Direct and coordinate the delivery of NMS services as assigned.
- Develop and implement comprehensive business plans required by assigned activities.
- Establish and implement an organized system of supervision and formal operating procedures.
- Ensure all assigned activities comply with sound business practices and NMS internal and external requirements.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with all appropriate regulatory requirements.
- Meet with clients/customers to maintain business relationships, market products, resolve problems, and keep open communications.
- Lead, direct, and communicate with staff to keep them informed and motivated.
- Ensure responsibilities, authorities, and accountability of all assigned employees are defined and understood.
- Assign tasks to workers and inspect completed work for conformance to standards.
- Develop operating budgets and operate within those budgets; approve assigned area budget expenditures.
- Develop bid material and establish cost and manpower templates for catering contracts for new clients; develop menus and scope of work for bid proposals.
- Support an active and comprehensive safety and continuous improvement program.
- Demonstrate strong skills in structuring activities, teamwork, communications, and operational efficiencies; adapt to changing business needs, decision making, and problem-solving.
- Supervisory responsibilities:
manage subordinate Managers, Supervisors and assigned employees; responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, performance appraisal, rewards/discipline, and resolving issues. - Supervise staff and perform other duties pertinent to the department or unit’s success as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- At least two (2) years of formal college training related to the business field (candidates without any college must have two (2) additional years of related managerial experience).
- At least seven (7) years of related service-based, hospitality, food service, housekeeping, hotel, or remote camp management experience, including at least two (2) years of significant supervisory responsibilities for a distinct business operation/enterprise.
- Reliable and dependable attendance in a remote setting.
- Must pass all pre-employment requirements which may include criminal background check, drug test, physical and fit-for-duty assessment, and hearing test. Applicants not located near a testing facility are responsible for travel to the nearest facility.
- Must be able to live in dormitory-style settings and meet cleanliness requirements of the remote camp.
- Must meet and adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations set forth by the company and client.
- Contract requires employees to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Must be able to perform each of the essential duties listed above with a professional degree of competency.
