Overview
This position is remote. The incumbent will primarily work from a remote work location and may travel to Northland and other locations as required. The role provides management of NCAT projects within the National Center for Autonomous Technologies (NCAT), directly supports the NCAT Director, and includes authority for NCAT leadership decisions as appropriate. The scope includes directing the NCAT Ambassador program, coordinating professional development opportunities, collaborating with national partner organizations, monitoring a multi‑million dollar annual budget, strategizing broad impact initiatives with external partners at executive levels, and developing and managing contracts to achieve NCAT goals.
Secondary duties include representing NCAT leadership and/or NCTC at STEM fairs, career fairs, exhibits, and conferences; developing new initiatives, service‑learning opportunities, summer camps, and workshops; and supporting the NCAT national education resource hub for autonomous technologies with an emphasis on outreach and expanded partnerships.
- Collaborates with Principal Investigators and Co‑Principle Investigators to coordinate activities.
- Develops relationships and consults with education partners to manage a nationwide process for attaining and maintaining education and industry program accreditation with NCAT partners.
- Provides support to the NCAT National Science Foundation program.
- Oversees grant activities, outreach, and reporting requirements of the NCAT grant.
- Supports the NCAT Director in ensuring training, safety requirements, and advanced initiatives are met.
- Performs other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the organization’s reputation as a viable business partner.
- Three years of professional work experience in the autonomous technologies industries; substitutions: a master’s degree in Education or Autonomous Technologies may substitute for 18 months of experience; a bachelor’s degree may substitute for 12 months; an associate degree may substitute for 6 months.
- Knowledge of or experience with industry program accreditation and individual certification processes, procedures, standards, and policies.
- Knowledge of research and evaluation methodologies sufficient to determine program effectiveness.
- Ability to interact effectively with education stakeholders and motivate cooperation among colleges, high schools, businesses, and the community.
- Strong oral and written communication skills for diverse audiences; excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to direct and coordinate multiple related assignments; proven track record of completing assignments.
- Computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Willingness to travel across Minnesota and work a flexible schedule.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in management, education, engineering, sciences, or autonomous technologies from an accredited institution.
- 3+ years of experience at a technical college, university, high school, or college system with autonomous technologies programs, or in a private company’s training program.
- Work experience in an autonomous technologies business/industry.
- Knowledge of Minnesota State college and MDE secondary programs interrelationships.
- Evidence of leadership, coordination, and project management experience.
- Grant writing and/or coordinating experience.
- Experience with in the Minnesota State system.
- Knowledge of Minnesota State statutes, regulations, forms, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance within the consortium.
- Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
