The Director of Insurance Product Compliance partners with internal stakeholders and serves as Humana liaison while drafting, filing, and negotiating approval with state and federal regulators for product-specific documents, contracts, member communications, or marketing materials, all while safeguarding Humana’s brand. Supports implementation and maintenance of compliant insurance products in collaboration with responsible business owners. Decisions are typically related to the implementation of new/updated products or large-scale projects and supporting technical/operational procedures and processes, and implements strategic plans, drives goals and objectives, and improves performance for the Specialty Segment.
Job Description
The Director, Insurance Product Compliance partners with internal stakeholders and serves as Humana liaison while drafting, filing and negotiating approval with state and federal regulators for service area expansions; product-specific documents, contracts, licenses, member communications or marketing materials, all while safeguarding Humana’s brand. Supports implementation and maintenance of compliant insurance products in collaboration with responsible business owners. Decisions are typically related to the implementation of new/updated programs or large-scale projects for the function and supporting technical/operational procedures and processes, and implements strategic plans, drives goals and objectives, and improves performance.
Provides input into functions strategy.
Humana is seeking a person that will lead the commercial Product Compliance organization to align business strategies and solutions with state and federal regulations. This person will build leadership relationships to influence State-Based Exchanges and Humana Operational, Product, Regulatory, Sales, and Legal leadership partners to deliver compliant insurance products.
The Director will:
- Manage team to deliver and maintain compliant products to meet the needs of the enterprise goals.
- Create a high-performing organization to execute products that meet state and federal regulations and compliance and quality throughout the organization.
- Understand and guide product development through regulatory considerations and processes.
- Works closely with legislative and legals teams. Anticipate business impact of required legislation and stays informed of potential legislation based on industry information and trends.
- Ensure products meet all state filing requirements, and appropriate approvals.
- Leads a high performing team
- Collaborate with business partners – Actuarial, Marketing, Operations, Product, Sales, and Underwriting – to ensure success.
- Effectively communicates business risks and provides proactive solutions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree
- Minimum 8 or more years of healthcare / insurance industry experience
- 5 years of management and/or leadership experience
- Ability to drive execution of regulations and business opportunities that require insurance product filings and maintain self-funded templates (ASO Plan Management Agreement and Summary Plan Description)
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) with ability to influence effectively and write well under deadline pressures
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with C-Level executives, with associates across all levels of the organization, and reviewer-level state/federal regulators
- Ability to use strategic, innovative, and analytical measures to find creative problem resolution
- Collaborative and ability to lead and deliver results in a matrix organization
- Experience building and maintaining relationships internal and external partners
- Ensure compliance for new and existing policies, certificates, and other related forms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Juris Doctor or Masters of Business Administration, or other graduate degree.
- Experience in the healthcare product compliance industry
