What You’ll Be Doing (position summary):

The Senior Manager, Quality Engineering leads the Quality Engineering (QE) team within CIBC’s Core Banking and Payments Technology group. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the system testing process, ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions that meet client needs and organizational standards. The in cumbent works collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient planning and execution of testing activities aligned with project timelines and business objectives.

How You’ll Succeed (responsibilities):

Testing Expertise:

- Experience writing test scripts, developing test plans, and end to end testing documentation.
- Experience leading a technology team, delivering results, and managing relationships with management enterprise wide.
- Ensure all testing activities comply with organizational policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and present status reports, and risk assessments to project leadership.

Automation Expertise:

- Experience with automation strategies, frameworks, and tools to improve testing efficiency and coverage.

- Experience with Integrating automated testing scripts with Dev Ops tools and processes.

Leadership & People Management:

- Set appropriate context when assigning work to ensure that individuals’ roles support the achievement of the business unit’s priorities and CIBC’s overall goals.
- Build team and individual capabilities by providing development opportunities such as job shadowing, special projects, and training.
- Manage performance by providing fair and accurate formal and informal feedback, identifying and removing obstacles to performance, and explaining how performance expectations align with business priorities.
- Create a positive work environment and act as an effective role model by championing CIBC’s mission, vision, and values 2.
- Ensure compliance with policies, standards, guidelines, and controls by applying them fairly and consistently so employees understand what to expect.
- Hire the right people in the right jobs to align individual capabilities with job requirements and business unit goals.
- Coach and mentor testing team members in business domain knowledge, functional testing, automation, and non-functional testing.
- Employ a results-oriented approach to ensure successful delivery; proactively manage risk and find solutions. Monitor milestones, and ensure they’re completed according to timelines and budget.

Project Coordination & Delivery:

- Manage efforts of internal staff and external vendors to ensure timely completion of test phases.
- Monitor project milestones, budgets, and deliverables to ensure successful delivery.
- Help to remove obstacles or risks impacting project timelines and provide regular updates to stakeholders.

Collaboration:

- Build trusted working relationships with business stakeholders and technology partners.
- Work horizontally across multiple departments to deliver end to end. Coach and mentor your teams as you work towards a common goal and negotiate deliverables and milestones whenever necessary.
