What You’ll Be Doing (Position Summary):
The Senior Manager, Application Development is accountable for managing multiple development projects, development groups, and application support functions for a major line of business. This role applies professional expertise to oversee the development, testing, and implementation of organization-wide systems, while leading, motivating, and developing staff to maximize their individual contributions and team effectiveness. The Senior Manager ensures best practice development techniques in alignment with CIBC technology standards and collaborates with business partners to deliver application programs that promote business improvement.

How You’ll Succeed (Responsibilities):
Operational Excellence & Technology Management:
Oversee the development, testing, and implementation of organization-wide systems to ensure alignment with CIBC technology standards.
Monitor service levels, analyze operating environments, and implement corrective actions to improve quality and efficiency.
Manage technology platforms, including support, enhancements, and maintaining currency of software and hardware versions.

People Management:
Set appropriate context when assigning work to ensure that individuals’ roles support the achievement of the business unit’s priorities and CIBC’s overall goals.
Build team and individual capabilities by providing development opportunities such as job shadowing, special projects, and training.
Manage performance by providing fair and accurate formal and informal feedback, identifying and removing obstacles to performance, and explaining how performance expectations align with business priorities.
Create a positive work environment and be an effective role model by championing CIBC’s mission, vision, and values.
Ensure compliance with policies, standards, guidelines, and controls by applying the policies and controls fairly and consistently so employees understand what to expect.
Hire the right people in the right jobs to align individual capabilities with job requirements and business unit goals.
Lead and coach a high-performing team, maximizing contributions and fostering professional growth.

Relationship Management:
Work closely with clients and business partners to develop, test, and implement application programs, advising application owners on technology possibilities and requirements.
Establish and maintain effective cross-functional relationships to coordinate project deliverables and resolve business issues.

Resource & Change Management:
Manage resource time, availability, and monthly allocations / project charges.
Coordinate and manage troubleshooting sessions for production incidents, including Service Now change and incident management.
Prioritize work effectively and manage the team’s deliverables to meet project and business objectives.

Knowledge Acquisition:
Quickly gain understanding of various Tech Ops support groups and functions to ensure effective team integration and support.
