Role Overview

The Director of National Accounts – Specialty & Mass will lead Cymbiotika’s strategy and execution across specialty and mass retail, with a core focus on Ulta and expansion into large national retailers such as Target and Walmart. This role serves as the general manager for assigned accounts, driving profitable growth through disciplined planning, financial ownership, and best-in-class retail execution. This is an individual contributor role, with the opportunity to grow into people management as the business and channel footprint expand.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own full commercial responsibility for assigned specialty and mass retail accounts
  • Lead sell-in and sell-through (out) strategies to drive sustainable, profitable growth
  • Develop and execute annual operating plans, forecasts, and long-range growth strategies by customer
  • Manage item-level forecasting, demand planning, and inventory alignment
  • Lead buyer relationships, negotiations, line reviews, and joint business planning, with a primary focus on Ulta
  • Own financials, gross-to-net, trade spend, and promotional planning
  • Utilize SPINS, IRI, Nielsen, and customer-specific data to assess category performance and identify growth opportunities
  • Effectively manage broker and rep group relationships where applicable, while maintaining the ability to go direct
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, operations, and finance to deliver customer-specific programs
  • Partner with the Head of Retail and peers to define, refine, and execute processes and best practices
  • Provide clarity around needs, expectations, and execution when asked, while remaining flexible in approach
  • Support additional account expansion opportunities as the business grows
  • Travel to key accounts and San Diego headquarters as needed
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in national accounts management, preferably within consumer health, beauty, skincare, or personal care
  • Required:

    Direct, hands‑on experience managing Ulta
  • Experience with Target and/or Walmart strongly preferred, or managing brokers/rep groups supporting these retailers
  • Proven ability to manage complex retail businesses with full ownership of financials and execution
  • Strong analytical and financial skillset, including gross‑to‑net management and AOP development
  • Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and execution‑focused leader

  • Desired location:
    Midwest / Minneapolis or Chicago, within consumer brand and retailer markets
  • Must be based in a location with convenient access to major airport to support travel
