Defence Construction Canada is looking for a confident and self-driven Team Leader, Construction Services to support a growing site that operates as an extension of our established location. In this role, you’ll take ownership of day‑to‑day leadership at the site, working with a high degree of independence as your manager will be based off‑site. You’ll be counted on to be resourceful, proactive, and comfortable making informed decisions in a dynamic environment.

Travel to other sites (such as Borden)—at least twice per month—will be required to maintain strong alignment, collaboration, and connection with the broader team.

The Team Leader, Construction Services, ensures the quality of service delivery within the service line at a site with a small to medium-sized construction program. The incumbent ensures compliance with service line policies and procedures, and manages contract-related risks. The incumbent leads a team of professionals and manages the human resources responsibilities for the team. The incumbent also manages the Client‑Partner relationship.

The incumbent develops creative solutions and ensures the team is focused on collaboration, and quality and timeliness of deliverables.

Key and Periodic Activities – Primary
  • Oversee a team managing construction, professional services and service contracts to ensure compliance with contractual requirements, and DCC contract management policies and processes
  • Solve complex problems within delegated authority
  • Facilitate contract‑related coordination and communications between stakeholders (e.g. contractors, consultants, Client‑Partners)
  • Promote and manage business development opportunities
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships within DCC, and with industry, the Client Partners and/or stakeholders
  • Ensure quality standards are met, in line with corporate and Client‑Partner expectations
  • Manage risk
  • Perform human resources functions (e.g. coach, supervise, mentor, plan and allocate resources, and manage performance)

Skills General and Specific Knowledge
  • Best practices, methods, trends and legislation in construction, architecture and engineering

Formal Education And/or Certification(s) And Experience
  • Minimum: college diploma in engineering, architecture or related field with five years’ relevant experience, or the equivalent

  • Demonstrate leadership and human resources management skills
Development and Leadership
  • Lead and manage direct reports
  • Provide functional direction and advice to other employees and to Client‑Partners
