Role OverviewNew York Life’s primary distribution channel is the career Agency sales force of more than 12,000 agents, operating in virtually every major city in the United States. Every agent is affiliated with one of our General Offices. These offices are operated by Agency management teams responsible for agent and management recruiting, development, and sales. Approximately half our agents operate their businesses out of our General Offices, while the other half maintains independent office locations.
Our General Offices are divided up among four Zones. In addition to our Zone Offices, an Agency Home Office team responsible for strategy, finance, administration, standards, training, marketing, and communications supports our agents and field managers. The Agency operation also comprises teams charged with growing our business in key market segments, including the middle-income market, the advanced (high-net-worth) market, select cultural markets, and the women’s markets.
Agents sell individual life insurance, individual annuities, and long-term care insurance products, as well as mutual funds.
The Agency Standards field organization is also divided among the four zones, with each zone responsible for compliance oversight of approximately 30 general offices. Each zone consists of several teams of agency standards managers, each led by a team lead. Each team is assigned to a group of GOs within the zone.
What You’ll Do- Oversee all Agency Standards functions in the Zone and its General Offices. Manage investigations involving allegations against agents and field managers, including recommending appropriate disciplinary action. Conduct and/or oversee the Zone’s review of Office of Supervisory Jurisdiction/Agency Standards Review (OSJ/ASR) including completion of management report and follow-up plan.
- Hire, develop, and supervise the team leads and assist in the supervision of the ASMs.
- Conduct or supervise annual OSJ inspections of each General Office within the Zone, report findings, make recommendations, and monitor implementation of follow-up.
- Investigate potential sales practice violations and other complaints involving agents and field managers. Recommend appropriate action including corrective and/or disciplinary action. Assist in evaluating and resolving customer complaints.
- Conduct supervisory training for field management.
- Review requests for agent contract exceptions and make recommendations to Zone COO.

- Manage zone travel budgets.
- Bachelors’ Degree
- NASD/FINRA Series 7 and 24
- Series 51 or 53 (or obtain within 6 months)
- Series 65, 66 or ChFC (or obtain within 6 months)
- Excellent decision-making skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- strong industry knowledge in both Insurance and Broker Dealer functions
- Knowledge of New York Life’s products and General Office systems
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Willingness to travel (up to 50% of time)
- This role requires FINRA licensed and/or FINRA Associated Person fingerprinting
Salary Range:$144,000-$205,500

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
