“Opportunities start here” is more than a slogan at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) Matanuska-Susitna College (Mat‑Su College); it is our mission. Our aim is to transform student aspirations into realities.

Mat‑Su College, an extended campus of UAA, is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Accounting Supervisor within the Administrative Services department.

We seek a highly motivated and organized individual who enjoys working in a fun and fast‑paced environment. This position oversees the operations, budget and employees of the Campus Cache (campus store) and Copy Center, providing quality customer service to students and the university community while maintaining the highest possible standards of accuracy and compliance in the administration of student accounts, university receivables, cash management and procurement.

The successful candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills, experience assessing and prioritizing tasks and projects, and the ability to work under pressure while meeting multiple and competing deadlines. A willingness to learn and drive to improve processes or create efficiencies are essential, as well as the ability to correctly interpret and apply complex rules and regulations and maintain compliance.

To thrive in this role, the candidate should have two to five years of progressive experience in a relevant accounting position that includes development and management of budgets and procurement processes. Experience in employee supervision, including hiring, performance evaluations, day‑to‑day guidance, training and direction, and regularly assigning and reviewing work product is preferred. Knowledge of general accounting practices, GAAP, balancing and reconciling accounts and internal controls is required.

Organizational skills with the ability to independently prioritize and work on multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, often with interruptions, are crucial. Computer experience, including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, is required; advanced spreadsheet experience is preferred. Prior experience in Banner or other accounting information systems, TOAD, OnBase and/or point‑of‑sale systems is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, statistics or a related field and at least 2 years of professional fiscal experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

A valid driver’s license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving criteria is required for this position.

* Preference will be given to applicants with supervisory, budgeting, procurement and computer experience, including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.

It is a full‑time, exempt staff position with a competitive salary and a full employee benefits package, including retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 79, based on education and experience.
