Departmental Research Administration Manager Overview

Portland State University is looking to hire a Departmental Research Administration Manager in the office of Sponsored Projects Administration (SPA), the centralized administrative unit responsible for the oversight and management of external funding received in the form of grants and contracts for research and other scholarly activity.

The DRA Manager leads a team of Departmental Research Administrators responsible for providing financial and budget administration support to Principal Investigators of sponsored projects. In addition to supervising, training, and mentoring DRAs and managing the team’s workload, the DRA Manager resolves complex issues escalated from team members and works to ensure the fulfillment of post-award obligations, compliance and commitments. The DRA Manager serves as a member of the expanded SPA leadership team responsible for providing consistent levels of training and support to SPA staff.

This position requires a BA/BS with 3+ years of related experience; a Master’s or other advanced degree in a related or relevant field may substitute for years of related experience. The starting annual salary rate for this position will be between $65,100 and $83,556, depending upon qualifications and experience.

This position is based at Portland State University’s vibrant urban campus in downtown Portland, where you’ll be part of a welcoming and collaborative community. We offer flexible scheduling options and, when operational needs allow, the possibility of limited remote work (typically up to one day per week) under an approved remote work agreement in line with University policy.

An ideal candidate would have experience in sponsored projects administration at an institution of higher education as well as supervisory experience.

Applications will be reviewed upon receipt.
