Position: Director, Family Well-Being
Reports to: Assistant Vice President, Family Well-Being
Department: Children & Family Services
Pay Rate: $110,000- $130,000 yr.
The Director, Family Well-Being provides strategic leadership for the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of high-quality family well-being services across Community Action Marin’s (CAM) Children & Family Services (CFS) department. Grounded in the Whole Family Approach, this role oversees managers and teams of Family Advocates, Home Visitors, and Family Well-Being Coordinators to ensure excellence in service delivery, regulatory compliance, and measurable child and family outcomes.
The Director is responsible for strengthening integrated service systems; ensuring compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, Title V, Title 22 (CCL), CSPP, and other applicable regulations; and advancing continuous quality improvement through data-informed decision-making. As a member of the agency-wide Leadership Team, the Director contributes to cross-departmental strategy, fund development, advocacy, communications, and system-building efforts that advance CAM’s mission and equity-centered outcomes for families.
EssentialFunctions & Responsibilities Leadership, Partnerships, & Systems Oversight
- Serve as a member of the agency Leadership Team, contributing to strategic planning, organizational learning, and accountability for excellence.
- Provide department-wide leadership for Family Well-Being services aligned with the Whole Family Approach, Head Start Parent, Family, and Community Engagement (PFCE) Framework, and agency priorities.
- Design, implement, and oversee systems, policies, and processes related to service delivery, staff development, monitoring, and compliance readiness.
- Represent CFS and CAM in community, funder, and advocacy settings, as appropriate.
- Lead select cross-departmental initiatives related to family well‑being, ensuring alignment with agency-wide strategic goals.
- Maintain overall accountability for the effectiveness, quality, compliance, and outcomes of Family Well-Being services.
- Oversee managers and teams of Family Advocates, Home Visitors, and Family Well-Being Coordinators across home-based and center-based programs to ensure consistent, inclusive, and high-quality service delivery.
- Ensure strong coordination across Family Well-Being, Education, Health, Enrollment, and site leadership to promote integrated services and shared accountability for child and family outcomes.
- Ensure implementation of culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and strengths-based practices reflective of the communities served.
- Ensure systems are in place to support families’ access to internal and community-based resources, including economic support, health and mental health services, and crisis response.
- Provide leadership and accountability for the Parent Leadership Council and other family engagement structures, ensuring meaningful parent voice, leadership development, and compliance with Head Start requirements in collaboration with other CFS Directors.
- Lead and oversee family-facing communications to ensure clarity, consistency, accessibility, and alignment with CAM values and compliance requirements. This includes oversight of family newsletters, bulletins, written communications, and Brightwheel as the primary family communication platform, with clear expectations, quality assurance, and system alignment.
