District Field Service Director - District 7

Full-Time, Exempt Position

This position is remote in nature, with frequent travel to the counties within District 7 to include Culpeper, Fauquier, King George, Madison, Orange, Prince William-Fairfax, Spotsylvania, and Stafford.

If so, the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation (VAFB) is looking for a dedicated Field Representative to join our team and support our mission of strengthening farm communities across Virginia.

Position Overview

As a District Field Service Director, you will play a crucial role in supporting the VFBF Membership and Field Services Department, as well as our affiliated corporations. Your mission will be to assist county Farm Bureaus in achieving their membership, leadership, and advocacy objectives while serving as a vital link to the state Farm Bureau. Your efforts will focus on membership growth and retention, relationship management, governance, leadership development, and member engagement.

You will be responsible for the VAFB Field District covering the counties of Culpeper, Fauquier, King George, Madison, Orange, Prince William-Fairfax, Spotsylvania, and Stafford.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Membership Development:
    Assist County Farm Bureaus in acquiring and maintaining memberships.
  • Compliance and Coordination:
    Ensure adherence to the County-State Memorandum of Agreement and facilitate necessary revisions.
  • Policy and Program Support:
    Aid County Farm Bureaus in policy implementation and program execution.
  • Relationship Building:
    Work with Field Operations, Sales, and local boards to foster strong county office relationships.
  • Conflict Resolution:
    Mediate disputes between insurance companies and county boards within your area.
  • Meeting Participation:
    Attend county board meetings, conferences, and conventions regularly.
  • Information Delivery:
    Provide timely and accurate information to county Farm Bureau leaders and staff.
  • Administrative Guidance:
    Counsel County Farm Bureaus in administration and oversee their record-keeping systems.
  • Member Benefits Representation:
    Serve as a representative for VAFB member benefits.
  • Training and Development:
    Coordinate and deliver training for county leaders and office staff.
  • Operational Support:
    Ensure county offices meet operational needs, including repairs and supplies.
  • Local Issue Planning:
    Assist in planning activities related to local concerns.
  • Program Support:
    Collaborate with Women’s and Young Farmers’ committees to achieve program goals.
  • Leadership Training:
    Conduct training to enhance the leadership skills of Farm Bureau volunteers.
  • Goal Achievement:
    Develop and execute strategies to meet individual district goals.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Participate in committees as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Field Operations or Director of Member Engagement.
  • Remote Work:
    Balance work from home and county offices.
  • Travel Requirements:
    Regular travel within the district and statewide; includes monthly board meetings, office visits, and occasional out-of-state trips.

    Schedule:

    Be prepared for evening, weekend, and overnight events.
Qualifications Educational/Experience Requirements
  • College degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in leadership development, organizational maintenance, marketing, and planning.
Skill Requirements
  • High initiative and customer focus.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Technically proficient with excellent listening skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in Agricultural Economics or Political Science.
  • Background in farming or agriculture.
  • Residency in or near the assigned counties.
