POSITION SUMMARY

The Program Manager, Agriculture Program is responsible for the successful implementation of FLA’s Agriculture Program primarily in Central America (75%). This position supports the tracking, verifying, and coordinating of all work related to the Agriculture Accreditation Program, including but not limited to managing Independent External Assessments (IEA) and verification of human rights due diligence programs of the FLA Agriculture Program Members (“Members”) as well as advising them.

This position reports to the Program Manager for the Americas, Agriculture Program and closely works with other FLA regional staff. This position also supports the Fair Labor Investigations work (25%).

This is a full-time, remote position based in any location in Central America and includes travel, if necessary, to other countries.

This position is a Level 3/Geo 3 role with a targeted annual salary equivalent to $50-55K USD.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
  • Track the Members’ progress toward accreditation.
  • Monitor Members’ headquarters-level Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD) commitment in policies and programs.
  • Monitor the progress of the HRDD policy and program implementation and provide support toward milestone achievement for each sourcing country.
  • In coordination with the regional staff from both the FLA and Member companies, collect information on Members’ country-level management system implementation.
  • Lead report preparation in coordination with the FLA Communications department and provide support for Members’ communication.
  • Support update of FLA’s internal database (Fair Labor Data Hub).
  • Maintain and improve FLA documents, protocols, processes, and tools for the Agriculture Program and the Agriculture team.
Support FLA Agriculture Program Operations
  • Support FLA's Independent External Assessment work globally by selecting assessors, coordinating with suppliers in scheduling, and facilitating the farm assessments in coordination with other FLA regional staff.
  • Support the reporting process by analyzing collected data to identify opportunities for improvement and ensuring report quality.
  • Illuminate systemic gaps and provide technical expertise and support to the field-level teams of Members and their partners.
Support the Operations of the FLA Supply Chain Innovations Projects
  • Support implementation of the Worker Voice Engagement Tool (WISE mobile application).
  • Track the alignment of the Members’ fair compensation work with that of FLA’s.
  • Engage with external stakeholders, practitioners, local partners, and assessors, as needed, to keep abreast of external projects and initiatives.
  • Coordinate with FLA staff on the FLA work related to coffee and other agricultural commodities in the region.
Support Fair Labor Investigations and other departments
  • Support FLA Fair Labor Investigations activities, which include structuring and deploying the Third-Party Complaint (TPC) system in the Agriculture sector globally.
  • Coordinate the development of Civil Society Organizations (CSO) outreach, capacity building, and knowledge-sharing initiatives, focused on Third Party Complaint-related topics, including the coordination or even participation in regional or country-level policy processes and multi-stakeholder forums.
  • Support the FLA Regional Manager for Latin America in building and maintaining strong relationships with diverse Civil Society Organizations, unions, women organizations, and community leaders as part of FLA’s CSO engagement strategy in the region.
