AARP Services, Inc., founded in 1999, is a wholly‑owned taxable subsidiary of AARP. AARP Services manages the provider relationships for and performs quality control oversight of the wide range of products and services that carry the AARP name and are made available by independent providers as benefits to AARP’s millions of members. The provider offers currently span health products, financial products, travel and leisure products, and life event services.
Specific products include Medicare supplemental insurance; credit cards, auto and home, mobile home and motorcycle insurance, life insurance and annuities; member discounts on rental cars, cruises, vacation packages and lodging; special offers on technology and gifts; pharmacy services and legal services. AARP Services also engages in new product development activities for AARP and provides certain consulting services to outside companies.
The Senior Vice President, Media Sales oversees revenue for one of the world’s leading media portfolios, which includes a suite of dynamic, high‑growth digital assets the two highest circulation publications in the United States. The SVP is responsible for a portfolio anchored by our award‑winning digital platform centered on AARP.org (24.3 million monthly unique viewers) as well as AARP The Magazine (38.6 million monthly readers) and AARP Bulletin (33.3 million readers), serving more than 125 million Americans age 50 plus and their loved ones.
The SVP defines and executes the overarching sales strategy to achieve portfolio revenue goals. They lead the AARP Media Advertising Network (AMAN) team in developing, packaging, and selling innovative advertising solutions across a wide range of industries. The SVP also serves as a key liaison, representing the ASI President and CEO in engagements with AARP Enterprise leadership and the broader advertising marketplace.
Additionally, the SVP provides strategic direction to media sales, marketing, and operations teams, as well as contracted representatives, ensuring cohesive execution and sustained revenue growth.
Fully remote position; must be able to work a schedule aligned to East Coast business hours for team collaboration.
Responsibilities- Directs key sales, marketing, operations, and business development teams, including media sales for print, website, broadcast, and exhibits. Directs activities of separate but integrated teams working in offices in New York, Washington, and around the country.
- Leads the media sales leadership team. Sets the strategic direction, planning, budgeting, and business practices for all functions.
- Maintains a high level of focus, activity and strategic planning among all sales, sales support, and operational teams.
- Provides subject matter expertise in publishing on Publications Directors Leadership Team.
- Contributes to internal understanding through widest possible dissemination of information between and among various stakeholders.
- Motivates and directs staff of over 50 sales and support employees, contractors, and suppliers to deliver agreed upon revenue goal of $100 million+ within agreed upon expense budget.
- 10+ years of progressively senior leadership experience in Media Management, including sales, marketing and/or general management.
- Proven track record developing and implementing digital sales strategies that drive sustained revenue growth in a complex, high‑matrixed, multi‑product media environment.
- Deep understanding of the advertising ecosystem, including trends in digital ad products and enabling technology.
- Experience cultivating senior‑level client and agency relationships across key categories such as financial services, healthcare, travel, and consumer technology.
- Exceptional leadership skills, with demonstrated ability to motivate, develop, and retain high‑performing teams of employees, contractors, and partners.
- Strong business and financial acumen, including budget ownership, forecasting, sales pipeline management, and operational oversight.
