As the Financial Control Manager
, you will be a key successor and trusted 2IC to the Senior Manager Group Finance, playing a pivotal role in shaping how financial control is delivered across the NRMA Group, delivering on the integrity and accuracy of the NRMA Group’s financial statements, general ledgers and associated reconciliations.
This is a full-time permanent opportunity offering a hybrid work arrangement for you to work across our Sydney Olympic Park and Sydney CBD offices, with some work from home.
Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Act as a 2IC to the Senior Manager Group Finance, supporting leadership of the Financial Control team
- Prioritise, coordinate and support the delivery of work across the team, particularly during peak periods
- Own and manage Group reporting timelines for internal and external reporting, including Board and Management Committee updates, statutory accounts, audits and disclosures
- Oversee the Group month-end timetable, ensuring deadlines are met and expectations are actively managed across the business
- Interpret new accounting standards and regulatory requirements, assess impact and recommend policy or process changes
- Lead the monthly balance sheet reconciliation process, ensuring integrity, accuracy and consistency of general ledger data
- Provide clear, evidence-based financial accounting advice and insights to stakeholders across the Group
- Support projects with accounting treatment advice and remain up to date with changes in accounting standards while championing reporting quality, controls and outputs.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related discipline, with CA or CPA accreditation is essential
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in financial accounting, group finance or financial control roles within medium to large complex organisations
- Experience leading and managing a small team
- Advanced stakeholder management skills with the ability to manage expectations
- Strong technical knowledge of Australian International Financial Reporting Standards
- Advanced Excel capability and strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication, presentation, and organisational skills
- Ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and meet tight deadlines
