Scheduling Manager
K is seeking a Manager, Scheduling/Planning responsible for overseeing the performance and outcomes of the Scheduling group within the Project Controls organization. The role involves managing the delivery of functional objectives, providing effective leadership and direction to team members, and developing schedulers into planners capable of creating integrated master schedules for large capital projects in the refinery and petrochemical sectors.
The position is based in our Newark, DE office, with flexible work arrangements including a hybrid schedule and occasional remote work. Domestic travel to client sites and other K offices may be required as needed for project and department support.
FunctionalJob Responsibilities
- Manage, develop, and mentor a team of skilled, mid-level, and junior schedulers.
- Lead the Scheduling group in the development of project schedules for a portfolio of capital projects.
- Evaluate project schedule progress and proactively recommend corrective actions if needed.
- Ensure compliance with K ’s project controls procedures and client-specific requirements.
- Conduct readiness reviews and quality audits.
- Lead Interactive Planning Sessions during development of proposal or project schedules.
- Coordinate between the Scheduling group and other departments—including Procurement, material managers, engineering work group leads, construction, and project management—to develop project schedules.
- Provide expertise and insight into the impacts to the project of adjusting priorities and tasks during execution.
- Contribute to forecasts and provide insight into Earned Value Management for projects.
- Communicate with internal and external clients to facilitate and ensure schedule task completion.
- Support, identify, and recommend office-level improvement initiatives in scheduling and project controls.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, business administration, or another related field.
- 15+ years of scheduling/planning experience on EPCM projects.
- High proficiency in Primavera and MS Project scheduling software.
- Experience scheduling all phases of capital projects.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, organization skills, and ability to function within a project team.
- Familiarity with SAP PS, Eco Sys, and MS Power BI.
- Experience with quantitative risk analysis, particularly related to Schedule Risk Analysis.
- Familiarity with scheduling industry benchmarks for reviews and high-level analysis of early project schedules.
- Experience in scheduling utilizing advanced work packaging methodologies.
- Knowledge of project cost estimating and cost controls and how schedules impact these functions.
- Understanding of AACE recommended practices and their application in project controls.
