Position: Project Manager MQ-9A Systems Programs

Job Summary

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems. We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to join our MQ-9A Systems team in Poway, CA. The Project Manager oversees and coordinates the operational aspects of one or more MQ-9A contracts, serving as liaison between program management, project engineering, functional engineering, planning, manufacturing operations, flight test operations, and the customer to support contract execution requirements.

The Project Manager continually reviews project status and budgets to ensure successful completion on time and within budget, assesses issues and risks, and develops solutions to meet production, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals. Success requires building relationships, earning trust, and leading a team that makes decisions and facilitates action toward project execution.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership, direction, and guidance for the project(s) assigned.
  • Take ownership and be accountable for the project(s) assigned.
  • Create project plan(s) and manage resources to ensure schedule, budget, quality, technical specifications, and customer satisfaction goals are attained.
  • Oversee and monitor project schedules, timelines, and milestones from initiation to delivery to meet contractual requirements.
  • Coordinate departmental and/or cross‑functional teams to assign and prioritize tasks focused on delivering new or upgrading existing products or services.
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
  • Identify and assess project issues and risks and develop solutions to meet cost, schedule, quality and customer satisfaction goals.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and guidance to employees working on assigned project(s).
  • Communicate project expectations and status to team members, stakeholders, and the customer in a timely fashion.
  • May participate in leading segments of or provide overall management for a request for proposal (RFP).
  • Interpret and administer policies, processes and procedures that impact project(s).
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ensure all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations are observed wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Ensure work is accomplished safely in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Job Qualifications
  • Typically requires a Bachelors in Business Administration or related discipline and eleven or more years of progressively complex experience in the project administration field with at least five of those years in project management. Equivalent experience may substitute education.
  • Extensive understanding of project management processes and procedures, planning and scheduling methods, and budget management, and ability to organize, schedule, and coordinate workloads to meet established milestones and budgets.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
  • Must possess:
    • Ability to initiate, plan, and manage projects.
    • Ability to identify issues, analyze and interpret data, and develop solutions to a variety of non‑routine matters of diverse scope and nature.
    • Strong analytical, communication, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and lead in a team environment.
    • Must be able to work extended hours and travel as required.
  • Desirable

    Qualifications:
    • Familiarity with EVMS and Microsoft Project.
    • Ability to create and manage project plans.
    • SAP proficiency.
    • Familiarity with MAPS.
    • Familiarity with export controls.

Job Type: Full‑Time Salary. Salary range: 100,290 – 183,098.
