Field Safety Manager – Traveling
We are looking for a Traveling Safety Manager to join our team. The role reports to the Director of Safety and Risk Management and involves overseeing the company’s safety programs and ensuring compliance across construction sites.
Health & Safety Responsibilities- Assist in the planning, administration, implementation, and enforcement of company safety programs to control risks and losses.
- Implement job‑specific safety requirements, hazard analysis and emergency action plans.
- Facilitate drug and alcohol testing per company, federal, and state requirements.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of assigned construction projects and onsite personnel, identify hazardous conditions, and report findings to the Director of Safety.
- Ensure safety issues are resolved in a timely manner.
- Provide safety and loss control training for supervisors, employees and subcontractors as required by company policy, regulatory agencies or contract specifications.
- Maintain required record‑keeping of site safety activities, employee training, and certifications.
- Investigate accidents/incidents, identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure adherence to accident/incident reporting procedures and medical treatment/first‑aid plans.
- Prepare and submit required reporting to the Director of Safety and Risk Management.
- Report violations for enforcement and record hazardous occurrences as required.
- Interpret local, provincial and federal regulations related to environmental safety, employee safety, and workers’ compensation for compliance.
- Maintain positive communication with employees, agencies and organizations as appropriate.
- Travel frequently—up to 80% – 100% of the time.
- Experience in excavation and trenching safety.
- Confined‑space experience.
- Thorough knowledge of 29 CFR 1926.
- Track record of developing effective safety initiatives that reduce accidents/incidents.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to travel to jobsites across the United States—up to 80% – 100% of the time.
