Regional Manager, Commercial Surety

IAT Insurance Group is seeking a Commercial Surety Regional Manager for our Plano, Texas office. The role is responsible for managing the regional business across Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas, including setting goals, overseeing staff, budgeting and expanding distribution relationships.

• Establish and implement short- and long-range regional goals and objectives.
• Manage the performance and development of regional staff.
• Prepare and present annual budget for the Regional Office.
• Establish and manage the department expenditures and budget.
• Drive regional initiatives and business strategies.
• Work strategically and tactically with agents/principals to ensure an appropriate level of understanding of company goals and objectives.
• Coach, lead and develop underwriters and participate in the development of underwriting training.
• Manage regional agency plant to ensure positive and profitable outcomes.
• Make timely and prudent decisions within approved guidelines and requirements within the submission timeframe.
• Collaborate with the Chief Commercial Officer and Home Office Underwriter to establish and manage regional growth and business targets.
• Ensure accountability for the profit center’s underwriting and accurate underwriting documentation, adhering to underwriting policies and procedures.
• Participate in industry functions to increase company visibility in the marketplace.
• Demonstrate superior responsiveness to agents and principals.
• Perform other duties as necessary.

• Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
• More than 10 years of experience in surety, with building, developing and expanding distribution relationships.
• Significant commercial surety underwriting experience.
• Strong analytical thinking, connecting market realities with goals, vision and strategy.
• Ability to respond promptly and effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
• Ability to define problems, gather facts and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to prioritize and organize.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• High ethical standards and expectation for the same from others in the organization.
• Ability to establish and develop long-lasting relationships.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require visa sponsorship now or in the future.
