, you will play a critical role in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and trust across a complex, unionized workforce. As the Payroll Analyst, you will:
  • Oversee and audit timely and accurate processing of company‑wide payroll.
  • Provide expertise in processing payroll in accordance with UTA policies and standard operating procedures, the collective bargaining agreement, and state and federal regulations.
  • Manage garnishment, leave balances, and payroll inquiries and discrepancies.
  • Work with management on analysis, creation, and closures of year‑end, responding to payroll audits, and tax filing.
  • Maintain a complete knowledge of the ERP payroll system (Workday).

This position requires regular in‑office attendance at our offices in Salt Lake City, Utah. After an initial training period of up to six months, employees may be eligible to work from home up to one day per week. Remote work arrangements are subject to hiring manager approval and may change based on performance and business needs.

Minimum Qualifications Experience / Education / Training
  • Three years of previous job‑related experience reviewing, administering, and processing the complete payroll function using an ERP system for a minimum of 500 employees.
  • Experience working in a union environment preferred. This job requires an annual credit check.
  • Associates degree in Accounting or related field. (In lieu of an Associates Degree, 2 additional years of experience will be considered)
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of database administration and maintenance.
  • Thorough knowledge of state and federal payroll and tax regulations, including current payroll law and best practices such as FLSA, tax levy, and garnishment calculation.
  • Knowledge of accounting as it relates to payroll and payroll liabilities.
  • Experience with year‑end payroll processes, including issuance of W‑2s and tax filing.
  • Report writing experience, preferably using Crystal Reports.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on customer service.
  • Typing speed of 30 WPM, 10‑key speed of 5,000 KPH.
  • Workday and/or Oracle experience preferred.
  • Beginner‑level proficiency in Microsoft Word preferred and intermediate‑level proficiency in Microsoft Excel preferred.
  • Ability to multi‑task while working under time constraints.
  • Ability to interpret contracts, policies and procedures, and legal documents related to payroll and/or union relations.
  • This job requires regular and predictable attendance.

Pay Range

$65,100.00 or more, depending on experience
