Operations Manager, Program / Project Manager
Overview
The Sustaining PMO Leader (Med Surg) reports to the Med Surg R&D PMO and leads the transformation and optimization of Sustaining PMO processes, driving effective portfolio management and predictable project execution across the company’s medical device products and enterprise programs.
Responsibilities- Develop and mentor engineering and project management staff, building capability to lead initiatives ranging from small projects to complex, enterprise-wide programs.
- Lead structured governance meetings and deliver clear, data-driven updates to senior business and functional leaders covering progress, risks, budget, schedule, scope, and resource needs.
- Serve as a trusted partner to senior leadership by providing timely, actionable updates on program performance, including financials, schedules, risks, and resource needs.
- Foster a high-performance culture by guiding team members, identifying development needs, and strengthening project and program management competencies.
- Establish and continuously improve consistent governance processes to ensure transparent communication of project status to leadership.
- Collaborate with functional leaders to drive resource management planning, workload forecasting, and task estimation, aligning staffing with project and program objectives.
- Contribute to the annual operating plan and lead long-term strategic planning efforts supporting product lifecycle management, market expansion, capacity growth, quality and compliance improvements, and cost optimization.
- Identify enhancements to existing tools and capabilities related to program and resource management, including Microsoft Project Server, Accolade, PLM, and others.
- Undergraduate degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a technical field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in medical device development, engineering, operations, project management, or comparable roles within a regulated industry.
- Minimum 3 years of formal leadership or people‑management experience guiding teams in a program‑driven environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including regular communication with executive leadership.
- Preferred:
Advanced degree such as an MBA. - Preferred: PMP or ACP certification, or willingness to obtain certification within one year of hire.
- Preferred:
Experience with Microsoft Project and Project Server, including implementation or enterprise-level deployment.
Hybrid work model with some remote work allowed. Requires travel to Eagan or San Antonio at least three days per week. Travel may include up to 25% domestic or international.
Compensation & BenefitsCompensation range: $163,200 - $224,400, inclusive of base pay and variable incentive pay where eligible. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, health savings accounts, dependent care flexible spending accounts, disability benefits, life insurance, voluntary benefits, paid absences, and retirement benefits.
