Director, Distribution Operations

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all distribution matters in the assigned region, including self‑run distribution centers, third‑party consolidation and storage facilities, the orchestration of daily outbound transportation routing, cohesive customer service relations with selling clubs, resolution of supply‑chain management issues with vendors, and long‑term strategic planning in support of corporate objectives.
• Manage distribution workload region‑wide, allocate resources to optimize productivity, oversee distribution fundamentals to enhance asset integrity and adhere to corporate policies, communicate with selling‑club managers and vendors as necessary to ensure timely support, and formulate and execute applicable budgets and expense controls.
• Oversee all regional self‑run distribution operations, including analysis and planning of workload, resource allocation, integration of processes for seamless support of selling clubs, enforcement of safety standards, assessment of actual productivity relative to benchmarks, and informing Home Office superiors of pertinent events.
• Oversee performance of regional third‑party logistics providers, soft‑lines, reverse logistics, and associated services, ensuring compliance with asset integrity standards and proper application of on‑site positive receiving procedures.
• Solidify support to selling clubs through constant communication with zone, regional, and club executives and managers.
• Spearhead resolution of emerging problems related to packing, packaging, trailer loading, positive receiving, and timing of deliveries.
• Resolve supply chain management inefficiencies between key vendors and BJ’s, as assigned.
• In coordination with Transportation, manage outbound transportation routing to ensure timely delivery to selling clubs.

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or equivalent.
• Ten years of combined experience in physical distribution, transportation, resource management, and retailing.
