Visiting Energy Research Program Specialist (Hybrid)
The Energy Sense Resilience Center (Energy Sense) at the University of Illinois System is currently seeking a Visiting Energy Research Program Specialist to support the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA) Workforce Program. The position is based in Champaign, Illinois, with hybrid or remote work options.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Technical and Research- Perform clean‑energy and sustainability research, including workforce‑program best practices, stakeholder engagement approaches, and scenario modeling.
- Produce research materials such as literature reviews, manuscripts, reports, program manuals, training guides, and case studies.
- Support program development for CEJA workforce and contractor programs.
- Coordinate inter‑office communication via CEJA website content, periodic updates, and working‑group participation.
- Facilitate external communication with CEJA stakeholders through email and other resources.
- Promote Energy Sense programs through workshops, webinars, conferences, and regional events.
- Expand Energy Sense’s client base through network interactions and direct contacts.
- Research and produce educational content on energy and sustainability practices.
- Develop and revise outreach materials, including fact sheets, presentations, manuals, and digital media.
- Create and deliver slide decks, training content, and educational materials for workshops, discussion groups, and online platforms.
- Participate in workshop planning and implementation.
- Track and report activities toward grants and project plans.
- Follow up with clients to monitor implementation of sustainability solutions and provide technical assistance.
- Contribute to quarterly and annual progress reporting.
- Perform other duties as assigned to advance the Center’s mission.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in public administration, public policy, education, business administration, social work, urban planning, communications, management, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in educational content development, public‑sector outreach, public or business organization administration, or workforce/human‑services grant program design and management.
- Experience developing and delivering public presentations in varied settings.
- Experience with workforce or human‑services programs.
- Experience designing program policies and procedures for workforce or human‑services programs.
- Experience with grant program development, reviewing funding applications, or providing grantee technical assistance.
- Experience working with underserved and environmental‑justice communities.
- Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills; ability to research and analyze information to make conclusions and recommendations.
- Strong organizational skills, time management, task prioritization, and deadline compliance.
- Team‑work capability.
- Knowledge and interest in the clean‑energy industry, including workforce‑development trends in Illinois.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and web‑based information‑management tools.
Full‑time academic professional position. Expected start date:
July 16 2026. Sponsorship for work authorization is not available.
Salary range: $63,000–$72,000, commensurate with experience and internal equity.
