Director of Research Administration

The Jaeb Center for Health Research is seeking an experienced Director of Research Administration to lead and oversee the organization’s research administration functions supporting sponsored clinical research. This role provides leadership across contracts, grants administration, study budget development, and post-award financial oversight.

The Director partners closely with the Chief Financial Officer, President, and cross-functional leadership to ensure research administration processes are compliant, efficient, and aligned with sponsor requirements. The role also coordinates the organization’s Single Audit and oversees teams supporting contracts and grants administration.

• Lead and oversee contracting activities supporting sponsored research, including contract review, negotiation, and execution.
• Supervise and mentor the contracts team and maintain efficient contract workflows, templates, and negotiation standards.
• Lead pre-award and post-award grants administration, ensuring compliance with sponsor requirements and federal regulations, including NIH awards and Uniform Guidance.
• Oversee development of study budgets for grants and sponsored research projects.
• Partner with investigators, finance staff, and operational teams to develop staffing, effort/FTE planning, and reporting expectations.
• Serve as the administrative liaison with sponsors and funders during proposal development and contracting phases.
• Oversee post-award financial administration, including interpretation of award terms, study budget oversight, and budget-to-actual monitoring.
• Coordinate with finance and operational teams to support financial reporting for sponsored studies.
• Serve as the primary contact for the external audit team supporting completion of the organization’s Single Audit.

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 10 years of experience in research administration required, including a minimum of 5 years in a leadership or supervisory role; a master’s degree (MBA, MPA, MPH, or related field) preferred.
• Significant experience in research administration, including responsibility for federal grants compliance, preferably with NIH awards.
• Demonstrated experience leading pre-award and post-award grants administration.
• Experience reviewing and negotiating contracts supporting sponsored research.
• Experience in a CRO, nonprofit research organization, academic research administration office, or similar sponsored-research environment preferred.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

Salary will be commensurate with degree and experience and includes an excellent benefits package. The salary range for this position is $120,000 to $170,000, with total compensation, including benefits, ranging from $150,000 to $212,000. This is a fully remote, work-from-home position; relocation to the Tampa Bay area is not required.
