Position

106 Group has an immediate opening for an experienced Project Manager. This position will manage projects in all sectors of 106 Group as dictated by volume of work. We work nationally with a diverse range of clients — including government agencies, corporations, community organizations, and tribal partners. This is an excellent opportunity to oversee a range of interesting projects and collaborate with a great team of people.

106 Group is a hybrid workplace providing staff with the flexibility to work from home or in our office depending on position and assigned projects.

The Project Manager is responsible for managing consulting projects related to Cultural Resource Management (CRM), Cultural Heritage Planning (CHP), and Interpretation and Exhibit Design (IED), within an established project management process. In collaboration with a contract manager, the Project Manager provides overall direction for all aspects of a project from start up to closeout. Projects may run from a few weeks to several years.

Candidates should be skilled in applying best practice project management methodologies and guiding project team members through the project lifecycle; managing schedules and resources; organizing project materials; identifying risks; and communicating with clients and/or stakeholders.

Salary

Salary range: $65,000 – $75,000 base salary with a competitive benefits package commensurate with skills and experience.

Responsibilities
  • Manage CRM, CHP, and IED projects within the framework of 106 Group’s project management process which includes managing startup, scheduling, status reports, deliverables, modifications, and closeout
  • Manage all assigned projects in collaboration with contract managers, general management, and team managers
  • Monitor the project to ensure work scope, schedule, and budget are clearly defined and maintained
  • Assist with business and technical requirements to develop and modify contracts, if needed, in collaboration with the business and contract manager
  • Track each project, update project plans and schedules as needed, and provide weekly status reports
  • Communicate with clients to understand and establish strategic objectives for their project and effectively communicate those objectives to the project team, stakeholders, and reviewers
  • Nurture strong relationships and identify new opportunities with clients and partners
  • Effectively communicate, convey, and document all project and other pertinent information
  • Contribute to a company culture of teamwork, service, and excellence
  • Develop and manage company processes and events
  • Train Project Managers and Project Coordinators in established processes
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of project management experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management processes and best practices of planning, execution, and evaluation
  • Ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects and adapt to changes in a deadline‑driven environment
  • Ability to effectively manage time, prioritize work, and collaboratively and proactively resolve challenges
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to convey complex ideas verbally, in clearly written reports, and deliver effective presentations
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills with attention to detail
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to learn quickly
  • Ability to work remotely, with adequate internet connection for video conferencing
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and other current technologies
  • Ability to work individually and as a team
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to commute to office or project locations as needed
Additional experience valued
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, cultural resource management, cultural heritage planning, interpretive planning and exhibit design and/or environmental laws and process
  • Legal training or experience in Section 106 process and/or architectural preservation theory
  • Training or experience in GIS, AI, and/or Data Management
  • Scoping and estimating projects and other skills related to marketing and proposal development
  • Skills related to marketing and proposal development
  • Proficient in languages other than English
  • Demonstrated management, business, and/or supervisory skills
