This position is a multi-functional leadership role responsible for supporting the organizational Safety & Food Safety culture. This position will travel extensively, as needed, to Fayette’s customer sites and home office. This will also be a work-from-home position when not traveling for scheduled business purposes. This position reports to the Director of Safety for safety related items and Director of Food Safety for food safety related items.
This position is visible to all levels of Fayette management, employees, and customers.
- Assists in management of all aspects of Fayette’s technical programs including:
- OSHA compliance
- USDA compliance
- FDA compliance
- Policy development and implementation
- Site Manager and Area Manager training
- Collaborate with management to develop, prepare and implement food safety and safety policy and procedures.
- Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
- Internal technical resource for Safety, Operations, and Food Safety.
- Periodically review customer accounts to ensure performance metrics are met and customer is satisfied.
- Continue to promote positive relationships with customers and plants by providing technical advice and assistance as necessary.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Extensive knowledge of current safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
- Extensive knowledge of current food safety policies and applicable Safe Quality Food (SQF), British Retail Consortium Global Standards (BRCGS) standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to conduct training.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, Animal Science, Meat Science, Food Science, or related field required.
- At least five years of equivalent work experience.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must be able to sit in a vehicle seat for extended periods and perform a significant amount of driving, bending, and lifting up to 25 pounds at a time.
The employee must be able to travel throughout the facility as required to conduct safety inspections.
Flexibility in hours is allowed but must work 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status. Frequent evening and weekend work will be required as job duties demand.
TravelThis position requires up to 85% travel. Frequently travel is outside the local area and overnight.
