Position: SVP, Advancement and External Affairs

Overview

SVP, Advancement and External Affairs at Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) is a senior leadership role focused on building and leading the organization’s funding and external engagement strategy. This remote position can be based anywhere in the Continental U.S. Regular travel is expected (approximately 20%).

What You’ll Do
  • Member of the Executive Leadership Team: Along with the CEO, SVP, Operations and VP of Finance, act as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team. Lead a team and collaborate with the Board, CEO and affiliates to raise funding and partnerships.
  • Fundraising & Financial Growth: Oversee fundraising efforts across major gifts, annual campaigns, corporate partnerships, foundation grants, planned giving, and government funding with a target to increase resources (e.g., $11.2M in 2026).
  • Funder & Prospect Strategy: Oversee research, qualification, cultivation, pipeline development, data capture and analysis, and support for proposal development.
  • Board Engagement & Major Gifts: Partner with the CEO and board to ensure a sustainable major gifts strategy and high board giving participation.
  • Program & Operations Alignment: Coordinate with Program Operations on fundraising, proposal/project development, and reporting; align alumni engagement and affiliate fundraising activities.
  • Technology & Analytics: Drive donor engagement technology and analytics (e.g., Salesforce, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Constant Contact) to improve forecasting, segmentation, and performance.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with fundraising regulations, ethical standards, and data privacy laws.
  • Brand Marketing & Communications: Lead integrated marketing and communications for donor campaigns, PR, foundations and corporate partners, and content including youth stories and stakeholder features.
  • Events & Sponsor ships: Develop events strategy, revenue models, sponsor ships, and alignment with fundraising goals; support government affairs alignment where needed.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with affiliates and national teams to maintain brand consistency and aligned fundraising and events strategies.
Who You Are
  • 12+ years of progressive leadership experience in fundraising, B2B marketing, or related fields.
  • Experience in both non-profit and for-profit sectors; proven ability to build infrastructure and teams during growth.
  • Collaborative, flexible leader able to engage diverse stakeholders nationwide.
  • Proven revenue generator with multi-source revenue model experience (corporate, foundation, individual, government, events).
  • Skilled in building and developing teams with culture, accountability, and collaboration.
  • Comfort operating at both strategic and hands-on levels; able to balance national vs. affiliate dynamics and strengthen networks.
  • Operationally disciplined, team-oriented leader who aligns functions toward common goals.
  • Committed to empowering youth with skills and support to succeed.
  • Adaptable, demonstrates integrity and outcomes-driven work product.
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms, ideally Salesforce and fundraising databases.
What We Offer

Competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package. The hiring range is $200,000 to $250,000 annually (plus an annual bonus), with compensation aligned to experience and market benchmarks.
