President (Remote, Higher Ed, SaaS, Student Engagement & Retention, Student Information System)

Overview:
This role leads Unifyed with a focus on student lifecycle management software and services for higher education institutions, including CRM, student information systems, student engagement, retention, and ERP functionalities. Remote position; senior leadership with P&L responsibility and board-level interaction.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Leadership
    • Provide leadership developing and executing strategies for business growth. Analyze direction and vision from Managing Partners/Board and make recommendations for continual growth. Thrive in a fast-paced environment; be an executor with both strategic and tactical capabilities. Excellent customer relations experience is required.
    • Lead and manage Portfolio Company within Board-established parameters.
    • Ensure the Portfolio Company achieves and maintains high standards for its products and services.
    • Create an inspiring team environment with open communication.
    • Monitor training effectiveness and determine if additional training is needed.
    • Foster a culture of ethical practices, accountability, and responsibility.
    • Ensure compliance with Portfolio Company's policies and practices.
  • Operations
    • Improve operational systems, processes, and policies to support mission alignment, including management reporting, information flow, business processes, and organizational planning.
    • Manage and increase effectiveness of Support Services (HR, IT, Finance) and coordinate with other functions.
    • Oversee overall financial management, planning, systems, and controls.
    • Interview, hire, train employees; participate in performance appraisal, rewards, discipline, and problem resolution.
    • Develop tools to track forecasting, pipeline management, and key account metrics to support sales success.
    • Manage P/L and conduct monthly board meetings.
  • Product
    • Oversee product lifecycle from concept to design, production, testing, forecasting, cost, mass production, promotion, support, and end of life.
    • Deliver operating plans with growth objectives across channels and customers.
    • Set long-term product vision and strategy.
    • Lead Product Support, Dev Ops, Engineering, and Product Management teams; hire/train VP-level leaders for these teams.
    • Assess technology, resources, and market demand to plan feasibility of projects.
    • Direct, review, and approve product design and changes.
  • Sales & Go-To-Market
    • Build and lead a growing sales and business development team to deliver profitable growth; implement a CRM tool (Salesforce).
    • Oversee thought leadership marketing campaigns and digital asset development, coordinating across marketing, content, and sales teams.
    • Design strategies for fulfillment and management of agreements; define processes, and set up ongoing monitoring to ensure success.
    • Develop and manage sales/marketing operating budgets.
    • Develop and implement strategic marketing and sales plans and forecasts to achieve corporate objectives; ensure marketing results stay within budgets.
    • Monitor competitor products and marketing activities.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree required;
    Advanced Master’s Degree strongly preferred.
  • B Proven track record in Sales & Business Development Operations within a fast-scaling technology company. Cloud-based SaaS experience required.
  • C Seniority: 10+ years of leadership experience.
  • D Ability to lead the company through the transition from early stage to mature stage; comfortable in dynamic startup environments and resolving ambiguities; capable of strategic visioning and day-to-day operations.
  • E Experience building teams from scratch or scaling organizations.
  • F Creative and resourceful thinker.
  • G Ability to set priorities, manage multiple projects, and stay flexible.
  • H High intellectual capacity with analytical and strategic thinking.
  • I Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities based on timely analyses.
  • J Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from clients/customers.
  • K Strong PC and business systems knowledge.
  • L Excellent interpersonal skills.
