Underwriting Manager - Netherlands

• Critical leadership role responsible for managing the Dutch underwriting strategy, overseeing the portfolio performance, and ensuring alignment with the company’s overall product and segment strategy.
• Amsterdam based role with hybrid working possibilities

This role requires strong leadership in team management, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and a strategic mindset to ensure underwriting decisions align with overall QBE strategy. The underwriting manager works closely with the Product team and Distribution teams to drive business performance while ensuring continuous development of the underwriting teams and is part of the Dutch Management Team to support day to day decision making.

• Define and execute country underwriting strategies aligned with business objectives, product strategy, and regulatory requirements
• Partner with Product and European leadership to deliver the business plan and support strategic decision-making
• Provide portfolio insights and ensure alignment across underwriting, pricing, and product development

• Oversee portfolio performance, ensuring strong monitoring, reporting, and profitability optimisation
• Ensure underwriting discipline, risk control, and compliance with internal and regulatory standards
• Drive data integrity, portfolio reviews, and continuous improvement through innovation and automation

• Build strong relationships with brokers, clients, and key stakeholders to support business growth
• Collaborate with Distribution and Product teams to align underwriting practices with market needs
• Integrate market feedback into underwriting and product strategies

• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing underwriting team
• Foster a collaborative, performance-driven culture aligned with business goals
• Set clear objectives, drive engagement, and support professional growth

• Commercially driven, with a strong focus on market dynamics and supporting sales and product development
• High attention to data integrity, ensuring accuracy and reliability of underwriting and portfolio data to support informed decision-making

• Proven leadership experience with the ability to effectively manage and develop high-performing teams
• Proven experience in underwriting (ideally in multiple lines of business) and portfolio management
