Job Overview

The KSUA Station Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, direction, and daily operations of KSUA 95.1 FM. This role sets the tone and vision for the station, ensuring all programming, content, and activities align with KSUA’s mission to enhance the UAF student experience through music, news, sports, and campus engagement.

The Station Manager works closely with student staff, volunteers, and the ASUAF Advisor to support a collaborative and well-functioning team. This includes providing guidance, assigning responsibilities, and ensuring that all members have the tools and support needed to succeed in their roles. The Station Manager also oversees training and development opportunities, helping to cultivate a strong, knowledgeable, and engaged station staff.

In addition to internal leadership, the Station Manager serves as the primary representative and spokesperson for KSUA, maintaining the station’s presence on campus and building relationships through events, partnerships, and public engagement. This position is responsible for coordinating station activities, managing timelines, and leading initiatives that support the growth and visibility of KSUA.

The Station Manager also ensures compliance with all Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulations and university policies, maintaining the station’s broadcast license and overseeing required reporting processes.

Administrative responsibilities include budget oversight, strategic planning, and maintaining consistent communication with staff, university partners, and external stakeholders.

Overall, this role is central to fostering a dynamic, compliant, and student-focused radio station while supporting innovation, collaboration, and long-term sustainability.

We’re looking for a candidate with strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, along with a passion for student media and radio broadcasting. The ideal applicant can effectively oversee station operations, support a diverse team of student staff and volunteers, and ensure programming is consistent, engaging, and aligned with KSUA’s mission and standards.

A strong understanding of—or willingness to learn—FCC regulations and broadcast compliance is essential, along with a commitment to maintaining professionalism and accountability in all station activities. The Station Manager should be comfortable serving as the public face of KSUA, building relationships across campus and representing the station in a variety of settings.

Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to manage multiple priorities, problem-solve in real time, and adapt in a fast-paced, student-driven environment. We value individuals who can work both independently and collaboratively, foster a positive and inclusive team culture, and take initiative in developing opportunities that support the growth and long-term success of KSUA.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Enrolled UAF student taking at least six (6) credit hours
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0
  • At least one semester of experience with KSUA (staff or volunteer) or comparable college radio/media experience
  • Basic understanding of radio station operations and willingness to learn broadcast equipment and systems
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with a student team
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage time, deadlines, and multiple responsibilities
  • Willingness to learn and uphold FCC regulations and university policies
  • Availability to attend regular meetings and maintain consistent office hours
