Taxpayer Services Technician

Washington County Property Records and Taxpayer Services Department is hiring a Taxpayer Services Technician. The person in this role provides customer service, records legal documents and researches property, prepares and processes documents, and performs general office duties.

Desirable Experience
  • Experience in the title industry and/or legal industry working with real property
  • Critical thinking skills and experience interpreting County, State and Federal rules, regulations, statutes and policies for customers
  • Effective communication with a wide variety of customers and a desire to provide accurate and attentive service
Hours / Days

Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Position may be eligible for 1–2 days of remote work per week; however, work schedules and locations are subject to change based on departmental needs and are not guaranteed.

Anticipated Hiring Rate

$21.53 - $29.26 hourly (May be hired at the Sr. Taxpayer Services Technician level depending on qualifications)

E-Verify Participation

Washington County participates in the federal E-Verify program. New employees will provide the required form I‑9 information to confirm work authorization if authorized. Washington County will provide written instructions and an opportunity to contact DHS and/or the SSA before taking adverse action before terminating employment.

Responsibilities
  • Respond to customer inquiries for various legal document related processes and services.
  • Make referrals to other departments as necessary.
  • Answer phone call inquiries by providing information or directing calls.
  • Review and process legal documents, applications, and forms for accuracy and completeness.
  • Research, analyze and verify records, reports, applications and other documents.
  • Conduct searches or communicate with representative’s other divisions or government agencies.
  • Adhere to statutes, laws, and regulations; clarify interpretations of statutes, laws, and regulations.
  • Collect, enter, scan, proof, edit, correct and verify data in computer systems with or without established procedures or computer application.
  • Process, sort, check for accuracy, and file department materials in accordance with established routine and policy.
  • Process transactions, collect fees and process over payments.
  • Collect and record a variety of receipts and disbursements for various funds.
  • Compile data and calculate various financial statistical reports.
  • Prepare memos, correspondence, forms, statistical data, reports; proof for accuracy and make corrections.
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Prepare, maintain and file records.
  • Minimum Qualifications

    Education and Experience:

    High School diploma or equivalent. Prior experience with customer service, financial reporting, and database management is preferred.
