Salary Range: $70,000.00 To $75,000.00 Annually
Job SummaryThe Operations Manager will oversee multiple yard management and transportation sites. The role is to efficiently and effectively lead a variety of site operations to ensure that they provide excellent customer service and achievement of wider business objectives. The role will directly manage and be responsible for all Site Managers in their assigned region.
Responsibilities- The day-to-day management and planning of the yards in accordance with KPIs determined by Executive Leadership, specifically the Chief Operations Officer.
- Reviewing the as-is status of contract requirements and continuously identifying areas for improvement and efficiency planning and leading on the execution of improvement within the yards and distribution centers, providing leadership to the staff including developmental plans, coaching managers and leading on engagement and culture.
- Ensuring all legislative and health and safety requirements are addressed and minimizing any exposure to risk.
- Lead the Site Managers with reviewing and preparing workflow, manning and space requirements, equipment layout, and action plans while ensuring productivity, quality and customer service standards are met.
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
- Meet regularly with Site Managers to review, analyze, and develop actionable plans for productivity, safety concerns and other KPI’s as deemed appropriate.
- Addresses performance issues and employee relations situations that affect day-to-day operations of the region.
- Oversee and manage logistics utilized to transport products to customers and internal facilities, communicating with drivers to ensure efficient delivery.
- Tracking and monitoring of operational needs like billing, vehicles, movements, staffing, and additional KPI's.
- Backup for Site Managers.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Senior Director of Operations.
- Knowledge of organizational effectiveness and operations management.
- Experience budgeting and forecasting.
- Familiarity with business and financial principles.
- Ability to acquire extensive knowledge of customer procedures and policy.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and leadership qualities.
- Ability to work with all levels of company staff.
- Comfortable delivering frequent direct written and oral feedback.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally with internal and external contacts at various levels.
- Ability to perform with little or no supervision in a timely manner and with acceptable quality.
- Ability to handle a variety of changing situations under stress.
- Ability to organize materials, manage time, and prioritize tasks in order to complete projects on or before specified deadlines .
- Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- High school diploma or GED, college degree preferred.
- 10+ years of logistics experience, including 5 years of progressive managerial roles in the logistics field.
Ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary. Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time. The ability to use a computer, tablet or smart phone for extended periods of time. Basic use of office equipment such as copier and fax machines. Ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally.
Work EnvironmentThis job operates in both a professional office (Work from Home) and field environment for frequent site visits. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and tablets.
Position Type and Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time exempt position working remotely. Days and hours of work will vary due to workload and needs of the company. Core business hours should be observed where possible.
Travel50-80% travel is to be expected.
