DREMC is a member‑owned electric cooperative serving an area of approximately 2,500 square miles across 17 counties in southern middle Tennessee. We are seeking a Chief Financial Officer to lead accounting, finance, billing, information technology, and purchasing activities.

Job PurposeThe Chief Financial Officer leads, directs, and is accountable for all accounting, finance, billing, information technology, and purchasing activities to ensure DREMC accurately completes all internal and external required filings, reports, and analysis in a timely manner. This role serves as a strategic partner to the President & CEO and Management Team for effective execution of cooperative strategies involving rates, debt, and associated cash requirements.

Supervisory Responsibility:
Leads the accounting, billing, information technology, and purchasing teams, comprising approximately 18 members, plus external contractors, lenders, and regulators. Coordinates with other departments as needed.
Budget Responsibility:
Responsible for effective creation and communication of the cooperative budget of several hundred million dollars annually.
- Consistently displays willingness to lead in a team-focused manner to achieve best outcomes for DREMC and Members.
- Trains accounting, billing, information technology, and purchasing teams to ensure competence, growth, and development.
- Ensures accuracy and timeliness of all accounting and purchasing deliverables for internal and external financial functions.
- Oversees processes related to a successful annual audit and related functions.
- Ensures all lender requirements and communication needs are met professionally.
- Satisfies all state and federal requirements and filings as appropriate.
- Applies DREMC policies, procedures, by‑laws, rules, and applicable regulations.
- Maintains a productive and professional atmosphere by coaching, training, and motivating employees.
- Demonstrates high emotional intelligence and self‑awareness.
- Maintains confidential employee and member information in conformance with industry best practices.
- Organizes and ensures efficient electronic transformation from paper processes.
- Supports President & CEO and Management Team efforts to communicate effectively to the Board of Directors.
- Provides emergency response coverage as needed.
Education: Applicable undergraduate degree required; preference for MBA, CPA, or other professional designations.
Experience: At least 5 years of progressive utility management experience required. Familiarity with TVA preferred.
Certification/License: Valid Tennessee Driver’s License required; ability to obtain prior to first day of employment. Must be eligible to remain insured as a driver by the cooperative’s group liability policy.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Well‑rounded understanding of the electric utility industry. Strong communication skills, analytical prowess, humility, and ability to inspire positive energy.
Physical RequirementsFrequent sitting at a desk, with regular use of hands for typing, data entry, calculator use, and handling documents. Must read detailed financial statements and spreadsheets. Occasionally stand, walk, bend, or lift up to 25 pounds.
Work EnvironmentPrimarily performed in a professional, climate‑controlled office setting with standard lighting and noise levels. Regular use of computers, ERP systems, phones, and office equipment. May require occasional travel for Board meetings, conferences, audits, or other locations. Occasional extended hours during budget cycles, audits, reporting periods, or strategic planning sessions.
