This is a Charitable Advisors supported search process for the President and CEO of the Indiana Latino Institute (ILI). ILI seeks a creative, entrepreneurial leader to enhance community impact, expand reach, strengthen financial sustainability, and deepen its role as a unifying convener across sectors.
PRIMARY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Strategic Leadership & Vision – Provide leadership to the board and community in defining and pursuing a vision for the future.
- Board Relations – Proactively work with board leadership to develop strong board membership and lead implementation of the organization’s plans and priorities.
- Organizational Management – Attract, develop, motivate, and manage an effective staff team of eleven, achieving ILI’s strategic objectives.
- Development and Fundraising – Expand ILI’s funding through partnerships, fee‑for‑service, grants, events, and donations from individuals, corporations, school partners, foundations, and affinity groups.
- Financial & Budget Management – Responsible for effective stewardship of the organization’s finances and investments.
- External Relations & Advocacy – Serve as ILI’s chief spokesperson, assuming a high‑visibility leadership role in the community to ensure constituent confidence and advocate for the good of the community.
- Legal Compliance – Ensure that ILI complies with applicable laws and operates with the highest levels of integrity.
- Experience as an Executive Director, CEO or other executive‑level leadership. Work across multiple sectors (nonprofit, business, government, education) is helpful.
- Strong public communication ability and experience, including media interaction and engagement across socio‑economic circumstances on sensitive topics.
- Strong business acumen and a history of providing visionary leadership at the executive level.
- Experience executing organization growth and leading a similar or larger‑size successful nonprofit or related entity.
- Proven experience working with a nonprofit board.
- Familiarity with cultivating support from major donors.
- Experience leading a range of business functions, including Finance, Marketing, Public Relations, Human Resources, and government/public policy.
- Success in developing and sustaining a high‑performing staff team.
- Experience managing risk while moving forward and building momentum.
- Proficiency in written and verbal communication in English and Spanish is ideal.
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business, nonprofit or civic leadership or management or another relevant degree; a master’s degree is preferred, though significant experience may be substituted.
The CEO works primarily in a convenient office at Meridian and 20th in a new development area. The role requires flexibility to work from home when needed, but most time is spent in the office, community, and at events, including evenings and occasional weekends.
CompensationBase salary starts at approximately $140,000, with final compensation determined by qualifications and experience. The position is eligible for a discretionary bonus and includes group health insurance, paid time off, and employer retirement plan contributions, each subject to applicable plan terms and company policy.
