Position: Judiciary Clerk 2 (Classified) Various Divisions - AMENDED

Your work will have purpose and meaning, improving the lives of the public we serve in courts, administrative offices, training rooms, IT, and field settings.

SALARY

The salary range for this position is $41,400 to $59,496 for Schedule A and $41,400 to $53,263 for Schedule B. Newly hired individuals will begin at the minimum of the salary range. Current Judiciary employees who are promoted or advanced receive a 5 % increase of their base salary, not to exceed the maximum of the range, or the minimum salary of the band/level, whichever is greater.

Employees hired before August 21, 2014 are considered Schedule A; those hired on or after August 21, 2014 are considered Schedule B.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide customer service in virtual and physical courtrooms.
  • Complete standard office or agency business forms.
  • Maintain records, files and other written materials.
  • Open, sort and distribute mail, cards, letters, forms and packages.
  • Operate photocopying and scanning machines.
  • Provide quality customer service to court users and internal customers.
  • Provide information to clients, customers or the public.
  • Request information from individuals, agencies, office visitors or customers.
  • Record information into computerized record‑keeping or accounting systems.
  • Select appropriate form letters for routine correspondence.
  • Enter data into various computer systems.
  • Complete standard accounting or bookkeeping forms.
  • Compose routine correspondence, such as form letters or standard replies to inquiries.
  • Maintain security or confidentiality of records, equipment or computer access.
  • Answer telephones.
  • Operate cash register.
  • Post expense, cash or revenue entries.
  • Prepare files and records for scanning.
  • Complete subpoenas, writs or other related legal documents.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
  • For some positions, operate automobiles, light‑duty trucks or vans. A regular physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position.
REMOTE WORK

The Judiciary offers a hybrid work schedule. This position may qualify for up to two days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. Remote work requires installation of a multifactor authentication app and a high‑speed home internet connection.

BICAT TESTING

Candidates selected for the bilingual variant title must pass the New Jersey Civil Service Commission Bilingual Communicative Ability Test (BICAT) performance examination or provide proof of bilingual proficiency with the Commission.

PHYSICAL ABILITY

Applicants must be able to perform work that requires climbing, prolonged standing, stretching, bending and reaching. They must frequently lift and carry supplies weighing 30‑50 pounds and, occasionally, materials up to 75 pounds.

DRIVER'S LICENSE

A valid New Jersey driver’s license is required if vehicle operation is necessary for the essential duties of the position.

AUTHORIZATION TO WORK

U.S. citizenship is not required. Selected candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. in accordance with Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations.

SPECIAL NOTE

Newly hired employees must agree to a thorough background check that includes fingerprinting. All data received will be kept confidential except to inform the individual of findings and any resulting action.

RESIDENCY LAW

Under N.J.S.A. 52:14‑7, the “New Jersey First Act,” all newly hired employees must establish and maintain a principal residence in the state of New Jersey within one year of hire. Exemptions may be requested from the Employee Residency Review Committee for hardship or employer critical need.
