Design & Service Center Manager

Reports to:

DSC District Manager. The Design & Service Center Manager oversees day‑to‑day operations of a DSC Repair Shop. The role requires a diverse set of leadership skills to drive efficiency, quality, and profitability while creating a positive repair journey for customers.

Job Summary

Lead a high‑performing team of jewelers, apprentices, and support staff. Create strategic production plans, maintain cleanliness, safety and equipment, mentor staff, and manage metrics such as Quality, On‑time Delivery, First‑Time‑Right, Inventory, Audits and profitability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Follow Quality Control procedures on every job prior to delivery to stores using the 5‑critical‑check‑point process.
  • Provide estimates back to stores within 24 hours on cost and turnaround time.
  • Order parts within 2 days of receiving a job.
  • Communicate any discrepancies or delays to stores within 24 hours.
  • Review parts daily and delegate ordering tasks to the Administrative Coordinator, Apprentice or jewelers as assigned.
  • Conduct bi‑weekly outreach to store partners/managers to discuss wins and improvement opportunities.
  • Complete same‑day Jared jobs to meet customer expectations.
  • Offer solutions and partnership as needed.
  • Recruit, vet, and onboard new team members.
  • Attend and participate in district meetings and visit local stores when time allows.
  • Perform tasks requiring a minimum Level B Jeweler skill set.

Administrative
  • Oversee daily operations of the Design & Service Center.
  • Identify supply needs and delegate orders to the appropriate staff.
  • Organize and distribute jobs to production jewelers throughout the day.
  • Prioritize rush jobs and special orders.
  • Maintain a proper level of inventory and control supply orders.
  • Oversee daily production and billing.
  • Maintain oversight of receiving and shipping.
  • Ensure all equipment is in working order daily.
  • Control security access to the DSC and secure repairs and supplies.
  • Communicate recurring concerns with merchandise via the portal and the district manager.
  • Communicate concerns with store partners to the district manager.
  • Have weekly communication with the district manager to discuss performance.
  • Review AP detail reports and discuss discrepancies with the district manager.
  • Report weekly metric numbers to the district manager.
  • Create weekly team‑member schedules and publish them timely.
  • Ensure all team members follow time and attendance policies.
  • Ensure lunch and rest break policies are followed.
  • Review payroll hours and make corrections if necessary.
  • Adjust schedules to meet DSC demand.
  • Forecast workloads by reviewing capacity daily and updating the district manager.
  • Ensure custom jobs are processed correctly using the custom systems.
  • Oversee follow‑up on custom jobs.
  • Ensure all information required for custom jobs is completed before sending to CAD.
  • Review all daily reports (morning, production, FTR, VOC, sales).
  • Identify improvement areas using the Profit and Loss report.
  • Oversee the DSC workflow process.
  • Adhere to all shipping policies to stores and outside vendors.
  • Communicate with stores and vendors as needed.
  • Train team on PPE usage and review yearly.
  • Train team on safety data sheets and SDS regulations.
  • Know Repair Support contacts at home office.
  • Complete monthly inventory tasks and submit to the district manager.
  • Follow scrap and sludge tank processing policies.
  • Complete all assigned training in a timely manner.
  • Complete all MyWork tasks daily.
  • Use Smartsheet in the portal.
  • Attend Teams/Zoom meetings when scheduled.
  • Use an incident report system.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Uphold Human Resources and Loss Prevention policies and procedures.
  • Recruit Design & Service Center team members using the Talent Acquisition guide.
  • Train all team members in their responsibilities.
  • Coach team members to improve performance.
  • Hold team members accountable for performance or behavior adjustments, when applicable.
  • Conduct quarterly check‑ins and/or performance appraisals as assigned.
