Accounting Manager

Pioneer Telephone Cooperative, Inc is seeking a driven, strategic and experienced Accounting and Capital Credits Manager to oversee its financial accounting operations. This leadership role is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and FCC Part 32/64 accounting rules. The role is ideal for a highly motivated professional who is an effective communicator that embraces ownership, critical thinking, and developing strong teams while supporting the company’s mission and strategic plan.

A bachelor’s degree in accounting is required to be considered for this position.

This is a full-time, exempt position with standard hours of 8:00 am-5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, and occasional after-hours or weekend responsibilities.

What you will Do

As the Accounting Manager, you’ll guide all Accounting and Capital Credit operations while managing and developing an accounting team. You’ll serve as both a financial expert and people leader – coaching, mentoring and collaborating across departments playing a key role in budgeting, audits, and financial analysis ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and alignment with strategic initiatives.

Who You’ll Lead

You’ll manage a diverse team including:

  • Accountants
  • Accounting Representatives (AP, AR, GL, Inventory, Purchasing, Regulatory, Lifeline/ACP, Capital Credits)
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Physical Requirements
  • Sitting or standing for extended periods, walking, finger dexterity, feeling, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity including close vision.
  • Occasionally it may be required to lift up to 20 lbs.
  • May be required occasionally to stoop, kneel or bend.
